Davig Wohlberg Out for the Season

Submitted by bklein09 on

Broken collarbone according to Red's post-game comments.

Big loss there.

Hopefully Louie can get back soon!

It took him thirty seconds to skate back to the bench and he was crouched the entire time. I was hopnig it wasn't anything serious. Obviously, that's not the case. This really sucks. Hopefully, Wohlberg can play the Woodson "you know how much I want this" role.

Fuck. Shit. Damn.

I thought it was a shoulder injury when he was skating back to the bench and when he left for the locker room. This basically the same thing.

Big loss for this team. Compounds Louie being out as well. Hopefully he gets back in the lineup soon.

Even though it wasn't really a dirty play, I still swelled with pride and even shouted KICK HIS ASS when Scooter and Brown went out and started roughing up number 11.

Related note, DeBlois made me so proud. That was a sweet end to his fight

what are the lines going to look like tomorrow?  I think Red wants to keep the lines as similar as possible, but he's certainly not putting Rohrkemper on the first line.  But the second line will definitely stay Scooter-Rust-Glendening and now that Wohlberg's out for the season (ARGHHHH!!) the 3rd line will likely be Moffatt-Treais-Sparks for the rest of the season, so I don't think Red'll take Moffatt, which would be my first choice to replace Wohlberg.  That leaves Lynch or Winnett from the 4th line.  I'm going to guess that since its only one game, Winnett will take Wohlberg's spot.  So my best guess is:

Winnett-Hagelin-Brown

Scooter-Rust-Glendening

Moffatt-Treais-Sparks

Rohrkemper-Lynch-DeBlois

Then when Louie comes back, he takes 1st line center, Hagelin moves over to displace Winnett who drops down and knocks Rohrkemper out.

I'm still not sure how I feel about that third line defensively.  Against most other third lines they should be OK, but if they get caught out against, say, the Miele or Camper+Smith lines from Miami, or really any top line or two, that could be trouble...Michigan has last change through the CCHA play-offs, which will help a little, but it could still result in some pretty scary match-ups.

I was actually thinking A.J. Treais was going to take Wohlberg's place on Carl's line.  Treais is more of a scoring threat, and I think will work well with Hagelin & Brown.  Leaving Winnett on the 3rd line would ensure that the line will be solid defensively.

The 4th line did not get much ice time yesterday when the game was still close, and will get even less today.
