Coverage Map Ack

Submitted by wile_e8 on

So HDSportsGuide posted the coverage maps, and I noticed a problem for out of market viewers getting the game on ESPN:

The game is in *gulp* standard definition on ESPN.  Why?!?!?  They have the HD cameras there for the ABC broadcast.

I suppose this is a fair warning to anyone that turns to ESPN HD to watch the game only to see ESPNEWS HD.

EDIT: The picture was in the post at first, but now it's not showing up for me.  Unless it's just me, I guess you'll have to click the link to see the map.

DC to Ann Arbor is brutal.  The Ohio Turnpike is possibly the most boring drive on the planet.  Plus, the PA Turnpike is a white-knuckler the entire way.  I've made that trip countless times and its not for me, no sir.

That said, the destination (AA) is spectacular and makes the drive a little easier.  And the drive home is bearable after a big win . . .

I'm with you, the PA turnpike is almost as bad as driving through ohio.  Plus, I can't get out of work early enough on Friday to beat rush hour.

There's another flight around 9er but I booked it before the game time was announced and didn't want to risk it if the game was a nooner.  So I should be fine.

It's not about cameras, it is about satellite feeds.  They don't have enough to cover all the games in HD.  Usually its the ACC or big 12 game that is the sd feed, but this week its us.

Good thing I'll be there.

I'm not sure about the veracity of this. I live in NC, and my cable guide for ESPN HD says:

Clemson at North Carolina or Michigan State at Michigan

Why would ESPN HD show ESPNews instead of the game?

EDIT: Just saw jcgold's post above. Shit.

That still doesn't make sense. Mich/MSU is the only high-profile game in the 3:30 timeslot. It should be in HD everywhere. Have you ever heard of them showing ESPNews on ESPN HD instead of a highprofile game? I can't say that I have... and am going to be pissed if I have to watch it in SD while the "news" is in HD.

Good coverage on both coasts should get him some love from voters if he goes off for another 200/200.

BTW, what's with the Arkansas game being shown in west Montana and Vegas?

Us in Vegas really got screwed on this one. How is Michigan v msu on all around us in HD, but we get stuck with Arky? Looks like I will just have to drive to California or something. I already had to watch last weeks game in SD, now this weeks game in SD too, anger.
