College Gameday to be at ND for Michigan vs ND game?
It's GAMEDAY!
This stuff usually comes out about a month or so before the season starts. But I don’t see it being anywhere other than South Bend.
Unlike the last few seasons, opening weekend this year is pretty light on marquee matchups. Beyond Michigan-Notre Dame, you’ve got Louisville-Alabama (which will be a bloodbath), Texas-Maryland (yawn) and.....Tennessee-WVa?
You do have some good looking matchups between Miami (YTM) and LSU on Sunday, and then FSU-Va Tech on Monday, but I don’t know how Gameday goes anywhere other than South Bend.
Whoops, completely forgot about Washington-Auburn. That could be a great game and a possible site for Gameday.
Virtual home game for Auburn with the game being in Atlanta, but Petersen will have his team ready.
A couple of top team showdowns the first weekend, so who knows.
I actually thought this was already confirmed months ago? Looking at the schedule for week 1, I dont see any game that would be a bigger ticket......Maybe Miami LSU on Sunday? Not really though
I think it was assumed since the day the game was announced.
Hell with Notre Dame
Rumors swirling today but no definitive source. I sure hope it's happening because if so I will be ready, and of course I will get a Sign Ideas diary brewing on here.
I am guessing that the FSU @ ND game, which is November 10, will host as it's around the 25th anniversary of the first ever on-campus Gameday (11/13/1993, #1 FSU vs #2 ND). M vs ND has been on Gameday 6 times in 24 years. I'm guessing they skip the Michigan game and go to Atlanta instead, and save the @ND appearance for FSU since I doubt ESPN wants to go there twice in a season.
Found this interesting article listing Notre Dame's appearances on Gameday. According to Wikipedia, M and ND are tied for 6th with 28 Gameday appearances each.
Based on their appearances for Alabama games, I highly doubt going to South Bend twice in one year will be a problem for them...
Gameday should be at Michigan - ND. Two high ranked teams. Big rivalry. How can you ask for a better start to the season for ESPN/ABC?
As someone mentioned , the “sources” were BarstoolBlue and BarstoolNotreDame twitter accounts and so you got to take it with a grain of salt ... and I am saying that as someone here in the minority that doesn’t mind Barstool.
Gameday or not, UM will get plenty of airplay on the sports talkshows once they get the W in Southbend.
