College Football Risk - Day 5

Submitted by Michigan CFB R… on March 27th, 2020 at 11:26 AM

We gained one territory overall to achieve a total of 8 which is good for a tie for 4th place. Early on in this iteration it seems like it will be quite a bit more challenging as other teams have massively stepped up their player engagement to even the playing field. For example, Texas A&M went from 217 players to 447 over a single day! We will need to make some serious moves in order to catch up and regain that overall user lead. So if you are reading this, then please follow the instructions below and sign on everyday to make a move. It genuinely shouldn’t take more than 1 minute each day and would help massively. As far as strategy and our general movement on the map. We have been working towards moving westward to engage Nebraska with the assistance of Wisconsin.

We have formed a non-aggression pact with Wisconsin to ease some tension in our region. It’s very important that if you are playing do not attack Wisconsin owned territories, including the ones in Michigan.

A brief description of how the game works is below for those that aren’t familiar as well as the current map. For those that are familiar, we strongly encourage the use of the assignment system on Michigancfbrisk.com.

How Does the Game Work?

On turn 1, each team starts with their home territory. It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening at 11 PM EST to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

Steps To Play Every Day:

Totally forgot about this until yesterday. Glad I could put my MVPs and turns from previous iterations to use. Now to try to award myself in /r/cfb

Sure! You get star "power" from 5 different verticals: total turns played in all rounds of Risk (cumulative), turns played during the current round of Risk, streak of consecutive turns played, # of MVPs awarded (I can't remember for sure, but I think this is RNG-based off of the territory you attack/defend - I played like 60 rounds last time and got 2 MVPs), and number of awards in /r/cfb (either post some exceptional content or pay to play, which I'm vehemently opposed to). Then your star power is used in a territory to give your home territory a better advantage. Ie it's not purely how big is your army, but instead is how powerful are all of the individual contributors?

thanks for the rundown! Sounds like first 3 I totally control, 4 is rando and 5 has some earn-it potential. Will see what I can do on #5 - grumpy cat memes are still in vogue, right? : )

wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on the "pay to play" stars. I've been grinding on Clash Royale for 3+ years w/o spending anything lol.

Did we retreat from Ann Arbor and try to give it to Wisconsin? It looks like they had 70 players/85 stars attack Ann Arbor which implies the non-aggression pact wasn't effective last turn or that it was part of the plan.
