Michigan got unlucky last night and Florida has gotten pretty darn lucky for the last few nights. It'll even out.

06/13/2018 - 6:53am This game doesn't do enough…

This game doesn't do enough to reward holding more territory. In traditional Risk you get more soldiers if you hold regions; here all it does is concentrate your forces. It's not nearly as disadvantageous as it ought to be.

05/17/2018 - 5:14pm Michigan has a larger

Michigan has a larger contingent than Ohio State, but it's not that much larger. I'm thinking of a Civil War battle in which an army of 30,000 is stalemated by an army of 20,000.

05/13/2018 - 7:51pm They'll get stronger as the

They'll get stronger as the game goes on. The two alliances should probably come together to take them down, at some point.

05/11/2018 - 6:14pm Once Team Blue, always Team

Once Team Blue, always Team Blue.

05/11/2018 - 4:48pm Good progress so far.

Keep it up!

05/10/2018 - 12:39pm Lawsuits aren't the issue.

The relationship is strong; there has been all kinds of cooperation and crosspromotion before. It's not like anyone is going to sue this site, it's just insulting and ethically shitty for commenters to copy/paste entire articles.

05/09/2018 - 8:22pm The territories are

The territories are impressive, but it's all about active users. Florida, Nebraska, and Team Chaos are leaps ahead of everyone else. Alabama's done a great job though.

05/04/2018 - 7:02pm Oh, posh.

We fans are insecure no matter how good The Team is.

05/04/2018 - 7:01pm I'm surprised this still comes up.

The horror stories about Columbus are entirely from the past; in the present day, nothing is going to happen unless you are a total jerk to people (source: went to OSU before I transferred back to AA). Wear your gear, just don't be obnoxious and they won't be abusive idiots.

Parking costs are pretty comparable to Ann Arbor. It's not worth trying to get a free spot anywhere, the towing companies are relentless.

It'll be hard to get tickets unless you're there with the Michigan delegation, in which case you'll probably have Buckeye fans around you. Nothing substantial happens inside the stadium.

05/04/2018 - 11:09am Lewis's hit was fine

It was a lousy targeting call on him. Metallus's targeting call was legimate, and he'll miss the first half against Nebraska (which means he'll probably be the only person in the secondary not to get a pick six against Tanner Lee)

05/04/2018 - 11:08am What luck

What luck, for Ohio State to go 15-2 over the last 17 years. Surely it's not the result of skill, or of being better in some years. We've got to do better than that.

10/07/2017 - 11:27pm Well, there were a couple of good drives.

This concludes the praise of the coaching.

09/09/2017 - 3:47pm Good schemes by Don Brown

Not every DC would think to call the "pick-six" play, let alone twice a game.

In actuality, it was surprising that Cincinnati was able to run a little. Good overall performance, but tighter coverage needed.

01/22/2017 - 5:45pm It counts as a tie

In the official statbook, it's a tie. The shootout win gives UM an extra point in the Big Ten standings though, and it definitely feels better than the pseudo-sweep had UM lost the shootout.

11/20/2016 - 10:20pm A few things.

If you want to look just at common opponents, Michigan played four at home and two on the road. Ohio State played two at home and four on the road. Beyond Michigan State (both played MSU on the road) and Indiana (both played IU at home), Michigan played @Rutgers and Ohio State played @Wisconsin, @Penn State, and @Maryland. Think there's a a bit of a difference in difficulty?

This week is always a slapfight online. The teams are pretty equal, there's no need to parse through the splits like this.

07/25/2016 - 8:50pm You could always, I dunno,

You could always, I dunno, not read the comments. Or you could complain and miss out on a good article. Your call.

12/08/2015 - 5:05pm I have good news

We're all going to call it the Battletoads Fiesta Bowl. It's a tribute to a much superior product, and what Battlefrog gets for having such an awful name.

10/26/2015 - 11:51pm Oh boy.

Where to start? Here, maybe?

12/15/2014 - 1:00pm OL Coach Ed Warinner will

OL Coach Ed Warinner will probably be the new offensive coordinator (he was co-OC before). There will be a new quarterbacks coach; I've seen suggestions for Mississippi State's Brian Johnson. Beyond that, I don't know.

12/09/2014 - 9:27pm Chad Morris.

Chad Morris was this preseason's hotshot coordinator. He just accepted the job at SMU, which just went 1-11.

Tom Herman's star is slightly brighter than Morris's, and his best job offer at the moment is Houston. He can do better (P5 school) if he waits.

11/10/2014 - 11:12am Nice feature.

I can't help but wonder what the conference's ratings would look like without Rutgers. Everyone else's ranking would be a little deflated, probably.

One thing about the top 40 teams to miss the postseason: 2005 Ohio State was barred from the postseason thanks to NCAA violations from the Jim O'Brien era. Discard that team, and only three good Big Ten teams in the last decade have missed the Tournament; not bad results.

10/06/2014 - 9:18am Two Words:

09/28/2014 - 6:33am No.

Boy, that was a quick decision.

09/09/2014 - 2:41pm I'll get a Darn Boner If

Michigan decides to Fire Brandon.

09/09/2014 - 6:28am You bet.

The youngest of the three siblings.

09/08/2014 - 8:25pm No, he was the backup.

He was in a position battle with Jacoby Boren for the starting center spot even before the injury (which happened in fall camp). It's not known what the injury was, but he re-aggravated it last week, leading to this. He didn't play any snaps, though.

07/24/2014 - 10:57pm It's not much of a disguise,

It's not much of a disguise, to be honest.

07/19/2014 - 7:20am Do what you like.

You're going to be on a golf course in the summer. The worst you're going to get is a couple half-serious boos. Nobody is going to begrudge you a color scheme.

06/03/2014 - 10:47pm Believe it or not, this is

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've been told I suck. Progress!

05/13/2014 - 6:30pm You are correct. My mistake.

You are correct. My mistake.

05/13/2014 - 5:17pm Cardale Jones or JT Barrett

Hi there- just popping in from 11W. The backup this year will be either Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett.

Cardale Jones is a 6'5, 250-pound redshirt sophomore. He got the few snaps that didn't go to Miller or Guiton last year, and they were pretty much exclusively zone read. If Jones is in the game, playcalling will be run-heavy.

J.T. Barrett is a 6'1, 220-pound true sophomore. He's much more of a passer and a decent scrambler . He arguably looked better in spring practice, but Jones has more experience. I'd guess it will be Jones as the backup. If things get really strange, there's also true freshman Stephen Collier, who is one of the lowest-rated but most-liked members of the 2014 class.

There will be a huge drop off if Braxton Miller gets hurt; Guiton played far better than a typical backup last year. Because of that, we expect Miller to pass more to avoid taking hits.

05/10/2014 - 11:57am Are you sure it's not

Are you sure it's not an Ypsilanti resident?

08/27/2012 - 1:59pm As far as not being

As far as not being judgmental of MSU or OSU goes, the cat was out of that bag a while ago.

08/24/2012 - 1:12am Not MSU. Akron State.

Not MSU. Akron State.

08/23/2012 - 10:18pm I agree.

To decry a lack of integrity or morals or some diabolical motive in everyone else's actions while ignoring one's own unprincipled actions is myopic and self-serving. This isn't really about the school, it's about fans trying to posture as though the school is somehow above the fray, that to play Touissant would sully the school's name.

There's quite enough of this gamesmanship as it is, and more colorful metaphors to describe this kind of "contest". But this kind of grandstanding is dumb and should stop.

08/23/2012 - 9:52pm Everyone else in the world is

Everyone else in the world is worse than you, Michigan. You're the last bastion of purity. Commissar Hoke would never do something so base like to reinstate a player charged with breaking and entering before his legal status was resolved.

Keep defending all that's good and holy, and the rest of us will bask in your radiance.

08/20/2012 - 9:40pm It became one when Ohio State

It became one when Ohio State news was deemed not OT.

08/20/2012 - 1:39pm Ohio State certainly needs

Ohio State certainly needs more receiving support. Accuracy and sack issues for Braxton Miller aside, the leading receiver(s) had fourteen catches each. God willing, Stoneburner will get twenty this year.

By the way, you're trying too hard at the anti-Ohio stuff.

07/13/2012 - 7:38pm Sorry about the knob bit. I

Sorry about the knob bit. I missed that one while self-censoring the other insults in the initial draft.

I'm kinda disappointed about the difference in structure between this preview and the other previews, though. The general threat ratings for offense & defense and the weird prediction were fun. Couldn't the team be likened to somebody drunkenly mowing obscenities into a neighbor's yard or something?

07/13/2012 - 6:24pm As always, context is useful.

Clarke's OVI was his third arrest and Gambrell's domestic abuse arrest wasn't in question; thus, no caveats for them. This is Klein's second arrest on domestic abuse-like charges, but the case is still in dispute. He probably won't get off on it, but if he's found not guilty or the charges are dropped, maybe then he'd have to get back on the team.

I would remind you that it's harder to get back on the field after getting kicked off the team than after being indefinitely suspended. Well, unless you think there's no difference between those terms to Meyer, in which case you should say so and stop beating around the bush. Put the story above the actual content of the preview, make thinly veiled accusations about roster depth prioritization, and go full cynic.

06/19/2012 - 2:02pm Occam's Razor, man.

At the time that ESPN filed these requests for information, they were digging for any and all info they could use in investigative pieces about OSU. Ohio State wanted to only give what they were legally compelled to give, so as to give ESPN less ammunition to use against it.

It doesn't even matter whether or not the emails would have resulted in major violations; ESPN writing more stories about OSU was reason enough for OSU to not want to accede.

06/13/2012 - 2:50pm No, I think a thread about the photo is silly.

We may as well have fun with it, I guess.

06/13/2012 - 2:34pm Actions do tend to develop reputations.

For instance, making a buch of substance-free inferences about a candid photo may develop a reputation for reactionary dumbness.

04/23/2012 - 7:52am Considering that we "won" the

Considering that we "won" the Terrelle Pryor sweepstakes, maybe Rich Rodriguez missing out on a running QB wasn't the worst thing ever.

01/31/2012 - 3:32pm I can't speak for everyone, but it doesn't.

(Full disclosure: I am an OSU fan. I promise not to bite.)

I do get what Michigan fans are going for with "Ohio". It shows disdain, and "Ohio" is a way to support Brady Hoke by adopting a quirk of his. Those are sufficient reasons to use it, but the idea that it drives us up a wall because we're irrationally insane (er, about this, anyway) is overstated. The comparison I'd draw is Texas A&M fans using "tu" and "teasips" to refer to Texas. Texas fans recognize it's a slight but don't really mind and think it's just their rivals being weird and all that. Goodness knows we've got our own weird terms (TTUN, M*ch*g*n, etc.) we use that you think less of us for; "Ohio" is another one of those terms. Also, we feel bad for Ohio U.

In summary, there's always a bat-guano 2% that takes offense to every slight ever, but I don't think "Ohio" is a big deal to most of us.

01/30/2012 - 5:03pm I wasn't trying to be rude,

I wasn't trying to be rude, or critical of this site's founder or anyone else. Just trying to decipher what I thought he/she meant.

Hello all, I am really excited to be here.

01/30/2012 - 4:31pm It's solely Brian, of course.

Using "we" is a veiled way of saying that Brian jumped the gun with the "Hello Willie Henry" post.
