Charles Matthews + Other Players Create Used Apparel Site

WD will punch me for beating him to this.

https://www.mlive.com/wolverines/2020/07/80-for-used-shorts-michigan-standouts-among-players-selling-old-gear-on-new-site.html

The result was The Players Trunk, a website that sells gear, much of it game- or practice-worn, from former college athletes. It launched July 2, and there are currently close to 30 "trunks" on the site from men's basketball players and a handful of football players.

Matthews has more than 20 items available and all but a few have sold. A pair of his practice shorts went for $80. Autographed shoes he wore in an NCAA Tournament game fetched $200. The 1989 throwback jersey and shorts set from a game against Michigan State sold for $750.

It'll be interesting to see how this business model changes once the NIL discussions come to a head.

i know its been done elsewhere but if they put in the time and resources, this project could have  legs.  plenty of people out there would love access to team apparel collections

Idk if NIL rights would apply here as this isn't their name but the school's on all of the apparel. I also don't know if the school would want to deal with the rash of "misplaced" practice gear that would be sure to triple if this became a thing.

Mmmmm, sweaty, used athletic attire. This has a "creepy Japanese businessman buying used panties from a vending machine" feel to it...

Hey, not sure if you will see this but it was the only way I could respond to your message in the other thread about mandatory masks, since the original thread got locked.

First, I want to apologize for not originally linking my sources, that was a rookie mistake and I know better.

Here they are:

Japan vs USA Deaths (Influenza and Pneumonia) https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/usa-vs-japan-top-10-causes-of-death

Japan Deaths 2018 (Influenza and Pneumonia) https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/japan-influenza-pneumonia

USA Deaths 2018 (Influenza and Pneumonia) https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/united-states-influenza-pneumonia

Typically, Influenza and pneumonia ranks in the top three of Japan’s cause of death, while in the USA it’s usually in the top ten.

Finally, in regards to what you said, “...do you actually think all or even most Japanese people wear masks around in normatimes? It's a tiny percentage at any one time.” No I do not believe all or even most everyone in Japan wears masks during normal times, but I do believe they wear them much more often then the citizens of the USA. I was mainly responding to another person who said that, “...preliminary and anecdotal data from countries like Japan and Korea has shown that their existing mask culture has helped in their fight against the disease.” I disagreed with that individual on what they said, and I am now showing my reasons why I disagreed with them to you. I hope I have helped you understand my point. These are just interesting facts that help me to believe that mask wearing doesn’t do much to prevent the spread of airborne illnesses such as influenza and pneumonia. I hope and pray you see this message, God bless!

Charles Matthews needs to know his worth.

Only $200 for autographed NCAA tournament game worn shoes???

Dude could've gotten A LOT more for those

Good idea, but they ought to think outside of just selling used apparel.

I'm betting that a Mitch McGary used bong would go for big bucks.
