Bri Minor (W Tennis): National Champion!
Sophomore Bri Minor has just won the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship!! First time in program history that a player had advanced this far in the draw. Now she is the programs first National Champion.
She defeated Belinda Woolcock (tournament's 6th seed) of Florida 6-3, 6-3. Like she had done through much of the tournament, she played the deciding points better than her opponent. Bri broke to clinch the championship on the deuce point. Congrats to Bri & the Women's Tennis program. Go Blue!!
if I place this here. Went looking for video and found none, but did see this:

Winning an individual National Championship is a huge accomplishment. Congrats to Bri!
...maybe more like a Minor miracle?
Nice job Bri!!
Tremendous achievement!
Huge accomplishment!
Tremendous accomplishment, Bri! That is just awesome.
Congrats!!
Muppets??
I agree. A Michigan National Championship deserves Muppets!
That is awesome!
Great victory!
Awesome - GO BLUE!
Nice work Bri!
To add to this...I expect to see Bri get a wild card into the main draw of the US Open this summer. Wild cards to NCAA singles champions are discretionary, but when the champ is from the US (which Bri is) they typically will give it to them. Go Blue!
With her national championship, Minor earns a spot in this year's U.S. Open.
Hail to the Victor!!!
Well done! Go Blue!!!
Congrats Bri! This is awesome.
HAIL!
Amaizing! Congratulations Bri! And only a sophomore. What an accompishment for her and the U-M women's tennis program.
Great post, but minor quibble. You cannot win anything in tennis on the deuce point except the advantage (game point) on the next one.
Will this help us in recruiting and does she repeat? Also can we build a powerhouse tennis program?
I used to know the tennis girls for years and now they get a national champ and I don't know anyone on the team anymore :(
