Blake's Glorious Run
I'm sorry, this post may seem trivial. It's just that every time I replay that glorious game-winning run, I can't seem to wipe the silly, poop-eating grin off my face.
So here's the run, again, with Fowler's call, "He makes a cut...it wasn't fancy! It was just old-school determination!"
Blake admitted he loves Barry Sanders and tries to emulate his jump cuts.
And here's McAfee, Tebow, and others, talking about Michigan riding Corum and how awesome of a person he is as the Honorary Captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team:
And here's the look on Blake's face afterward with Nugent tugging on his jersey:
His right upper lip is caught on his mouthguard. He looks like a mean-ass bulldog with a crooked tooth.
I've got two possible captions and am open to more suggestions:
"You thought I would be denied???"
"Are you not entertained???"
What a great team. You can see why Coach Jim loves coaching these kids so much. You talk about some ballers!

Oh, that's lovely. Am I correct in assuming that's located on the brick wall of the new veranda at the Louvre?
January 3rd, 2024 at 10:59 PM ^
It actually is hanging in Ryan Day's man cave.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:35 AM ^
Huh... Why did I always think he'd hang out in his wife's she-shed?

My mind went to Blake being a comedian after his football days

Now I hear the picture saying "What is the deal with Ovaltine?"
January 4th, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
the tin is round, the cup is round, should be roundtine!
January 3rd, 2024 at 10:53 PM ^
I’m using that for my profile picture someday.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:14 AM ^
That Corum picture is the only one that is even more badass than this one. Corum's belongs in the Smithsonian.
This one belongs in my heart. Sainristil alone facing down the ALA captians heading into OT (yes, Corum joins later). These young men are Wolverine Legends several times over. What careers. Not over yet.

Has there ever been an explanation of why the other captains were late?
January 4th, 2024 at 6:51 PM ^
They were reviewing some late discovered signs that were "stolen."

Blake the Great!
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:09 PM ^
Special Shout-out to Barnhart and Bredeson making great blocks. And our downfield WR blocking has really improved here’s to you CJ.
Blake has a Barry style to him the way he sets up blocks. One of the best we have ever had and an overall gem representing Michigan.
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:58 PM ^
Hard to believe Max Bredeson was a walk-on. Nice story.
He's a beast. It's in his DNA.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:37 AM ^
Who's been the better player at Michigan - Max or Ben?
Discuss...
(Dude, I'm not touching that one!)
January 4th, 2024 at 9:03 AM ^
This made me giggle a bit.
The fact you can make statement like this is certainly a testament to Max.
Blocking in space with his ferociousness is a rare art form and not easy to duplicate.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:45 AM ^
CJ doesn't get enough love. Catches just about everything thrown at his direction no matter if he's six yards away and the ball is rocketed. Think he had 9 catches or so in the Ohio State game. Solid, dependable. Doesn't make mistakes such as trying to show boat and one arm catch balls only to have it pop up and get intercepted. Blocks relentlessly for his running backs. Flies under the radar too much.
Hope he catches a 50 yard bomb in the Championship. Gets the accolades he deserves and gets drafted.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:39 AM ^
He'll make some team happy as a depth WR in the League. But he's usually good for one drop in a game, and then follows that up with some spectacular play that makes a drive.
Come to think of it, that one drop hasn't been seen in these parts since early in the season. Has he shed that stigma, perhaps, this season?
January 4th, 2024 at 9:40 AM ^
Blocking - this is foundational - technique - TEAM play.
I’ve heard a rumor that teams who play on Sunday actually value this “blocking” ability.
Go Blue!
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:15 PM ^
His last TD run in overtime was the closest thing to Barry Sanders I’ve seen since the beginning of football.
January 4th, 2024 at 12:01 AM ^
^^^This. The jump cut, the toughness, the B-button spin move, it was all there.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:42 AM ^
Most of us know this. Blake was able to make that (and other) moves because of his training.
Think - was it about 12 months ago that he had surgery on his knee (after the injury against Illinois).
January 4th, 2024 at 1:08 AM ^
Looks like he wore a Sanders pro-bowl jersey on the way to the stadium...he was feelin' it!
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:18 PM ^
"How do ya like me now"!
"Say what?"
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:31 PM ^
RB1 on the Michigan all time team.
Remember when he Hassan Haskins and Zach charbonnet was our running back depth?
January 4th, 2024 at 7:41 AM ^
Zach was a Heisman contender at UCLA and is now a respectable NFL'er. He couldn't get on the field at Michigan...
LMAO - that RB room is ridiculous!
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:44 PM ^
Corum’s run was one of those classic moments in rose bowl history. Gliding right through Alabama.
January 3rd, 2024 at 11:53 PM ^
Also, passing Anthony Thomas with his 56th career rushing touchdown. What a night.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:59 AM ^
How about he concludes his college career with 60? It's a nice, round number.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:03 AM ^
How about 62? It is an even nicer, even number.
January 4th, 2024 at 12:11 AM ^
God damn what a truly special season from truly special humans!!!
so many moments late in the season for Blake, from his blood tears to his run following the Zinter injury.
He might have surpassed Denmard as my favorite Michigan player for all time.
January 4th, 2024 at 12:38 AM ^
Legend
January 4th, 2024 at 1:23 AM ^
my two favorite UM players of all time both wore #2
Woodson and Corum.
January 4th, 2024 at 4:41 AM ^
Corum is my all time favorite player to wear a Michigan uniform. He's a great person, unbelievable work ethic, elite college running back, and a fucking dawg. I rep his number every game day. He's a legend and his game winning run in the Rose Bowl will be remembered forever.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:48 AM ^
Yeah - but look at his behavior off the field.
He’s spending his free time and NIL monies on school supplies for children who may have a need, he buys and delivers 600 Thanksgiving dinners the Sunday before the OSU game - he and a bunch of his teammates spend a day when they could be relaxing going to a mall and provide Christmas gifts and signatures to fans.
Oh - and look at his reaction after the game. Blake, his teammates - the coaches - etc..
January 4th, 2024 at 4:56 AM ^
That whole overtime sequence is special. Corum's run is an all time great run. That jump cut is not easy to emulate. And the spin move to slip by two Bama defenders is amazing.
I want to know what Saban said to Harbaugh at the end. I am sure it was a classy exchange between two great coaches.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:23 AM ^
Barry fucking Sanders with a hint of run your ass the hell over. I love everything about this kid and will miss him terribly. Blake the great is fitting, even if the name was given by a blabbering idiot.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:15 AM ^
He is the closest thing we have ever had to Sanders.
Let me guess, you’re more of a Joe Buck kind of guy?
January 4th, 2024 at 3:24 PM ^
I’m more of a normal announcer kind of guy. I’d take a Klatt and Fowler team for every game.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:46 AM ^
I really want to see Blake go out in a blaze of glory the same way Haskins did. On one of his early 1st quarter runs against OSU in 2021, Hassan got to the secondary, turned into the safety instead of away towards open grass, lowered his shoulder and flattened the guy. He fell down after another few yards, but the tone was set.
I'd love to see Blake run right through a safety, because I know he's getting to that level at some point Monday night.

If there’s ever been a young man who deserves it!

People have been wondering when / if we'd ever be able to see peak Blake Corum again this year.
Man, oh man, we got it. All in that one play.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:30 AM ^
We love our RBs to be forged from twisted blue steel.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:54 AM ^
I can't get over how similar this was to the TDs against PSU and OSU. I know he had to break a few tackles on this one, but the jump cut to the left, the mean mug for the camera, and the importance of the TD in that game.
PSU: Pretty much put the game away 24-9. 30 yard TD.
OSU: Broke the tie, more importantly picked the team up after ZZ injury. 24-17 22 yard TD
BAMA: Broke the tie put team up in OT. 27-20 17 yard TD.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:05 AM ^
1. You eat poop?
2. His mouth isn't caught, he's mean-mugging
January 4th, 2024 at 3:29 PM ^
I guran dam T there was some scouts texting like mad watching that jump cut and finishing off that run with pure will. You can’t teach what Blake has.
