the 9th best player in the conference?!? Really?!?

I'm a little too old to throw around modern slang, but this pick by Rittenberg definitely qualifies as a big ole' FAIL in my book.

I think I can honestly say that I would feel exactly the same way if Boren were still at UM, this just doesn't make any sense regardless of which team he is on.

i have to take some experts' word for it, but he is highly regarded by media, coaches and men with greasy hair who obsess over the draft.  he most likely does benefit from his "situation" by getting some name recognition, and i don't really have the time to judge why or why not he is better than Tandon Doss.

exit from Michigan take away from his talent. Kid was (maybe still is) a bit of a punk, but he was a coaches 2nd team all Big 10 pick last year. He's made OSU's line a lot better, IMO. He's a four-year starter. A lot of people think he's a Top 5 guard in the country.

What I don't know is how he's ranked about Moffitt, though.  Moffitt was a first teamer last year at the same position. I'd trust B10 coaches more than a sportswriter on that particular one.

You could make an argument that guys like Kerrigan, Smith, Doss, Homan are better than Boren, but it's tough comparing positions - i.e., is Keith Smith a better receiver than Boren is a guard?  I dunno.  Splitting hairs to me. At least Rittenberg didn't put him in front of guys like Clayborn, Royster, Clay, Pryor, Heyward and Wisniewski.

I was watching the Capital One Bowl (2008 version) on BTN on Monday.

Did I notice that Boren played in that game?  Yes.

Did I have a slight feeling of "I wish he wasn't such a lazy fat ass and stayed at Michigan"? Yes.

That is all.

What a pussy.  Wait, you mean not only am I not assured of a starting spot, but I have to run to the line of scrimmage and practice hard, and you're not offering a scholarship to my little brother to play LB!?!  Screw this, there aren't any family values anymore, I'll show you, I'll go to Ohio State and show you (angry fat fist waving)!

In case anyone has forgotten, Mr. Boren (talent aside) and his "Michigan Man" dad share much of the responsibility for the Family Values $h1tstorm that has plagued Rodriguez for 2+ years.

I realize that's not the only storm, and that RichRod shares responsibility for other ones, but it hasn't been more than a few weeks since I saw "decline in family values" in print (and associated with RichRod).  That doesn't help Michigan football.  @#$% Mike Boren.

"Leaving Michigan clearly had paid off for him"  really? please explain Adam...

"Mel Kiper Projects him as the No 2 Guard in the 2011 NFL Draft" at 6'3"

Does Mel know that most DT's are taller, and that DE's are taller then they used to be?

I know Boren goes to Ohio State, but dont try to blow smoke up our butts Adam and Mel

Will they teach him how to graciously bow out of a job, that he thinks lacks "Family Values"?

Class like that is learned from a classy institution. I.E. Michigan....

I agree.

If I am a competent NFL GM, what I'm thinking (re: Boren) is either:

(A) He saw the ship sinking at Michigan and got off the boat (aka someone who will never be "all in" for his team)

(B) He flipped because he didn't want to put in the incremental work under Barwis' training program (aka he is lazy and fat)

Sometimes talent wins out, but if I have a first or second round pick, I'm not taking Boren.  He's either looking out for #1 at all times, or he is lazy and fat (or both).  The lightbulb will never illuminate for this kid.
