B1G Tournament: Illinois vs. Michigan, BTN, 12:20EST Tip
Manuel is on BTN right now, telling about the decisions made by him, the B1G and the team. Manuel doesn't know what uniforms we are wearing.
Let's get this done, and smash our esteemed rivals. GO BLUE.
The AD is clearly emotional - this was a big deal, obviously.
Why couldn't they have moved Indiana Iowa to noon and let Michigan play in that slot? They could have made the call yesterday morning.
Yes it would be annoying for those other teams, but at least it would effect them equally. Pretty crazy that it went down this way. Let go win it anyway boys.
Really no other game needed to move much. You could have the 2:30 game as scheduled, then Michigan-IL at 4:45 and move the night sessions by 30 minutes to 7 and 9 p.m. slots. Maybe the night games get delayed 15-30 minutes further.
this from espn:
The Big Ten said they left the game time decision today up to Michigan. They were willing to move it, but the Wolverines wanted to play as soon as they got to DC. They asked for just an extra 20 minutes to 12:20 p.m. ET. Big Ten officials told ESPN that Illinois, Michigan State and Penn State (which play in the 2 p.m game) were all very agreeable and would have done anything to help out. Michigan officials said all of the equipment is in the cargo of the plane and cannot be retrieved until the safety investigation is complete (re: wearing practice uniforms
Let it be said that the Big Ten cares so much about the emotional state of an entire team that it is willing to move a game back a whole twenty minutes so that they have time to dribble a ball for a few minutes before they actually have to play a game on surely abbreviated rest.
Thanks SO much, Commissioner.
*vomits*
A whole extra EIGHT minutes! The Big Ten cares so much about us!
a historic tournament run coming up!!!
So, thread right below invalid?
Double
Sheesh
Let's avenge this ridiculous B1G decision and get Coach B the win record!
Let's get the job done!
Can this be the open game thread? All anger and whining stays in the other ten threads.
I sure hope it does.
and he should not lead the department.
Can we bring Jim Hackett back.
Can someone post a link of a stream they have? I can't seem to find any on firstrowsports or reddit.
enjoy
Is the stream working for you? It's still blacked out for me.
No excuses, let's win the game. Maybe the practice jersey will help enforce a blue collar mentality today.
Maybe the silver lining is the team doesn't really have time to overthink this game. They just need to go out there and play.
They are more at risk for injury with this. I don't really care much about the result of the game. Thanks Big Ten!
Interesting: no sign of Beilein the entire warmups -
he's stuck in traffic
Out getting subs.
Take it FWIW, but Zach Shaw is reporting that Walton seems to be favoring one leg a tad -- BUT, that his jumper still looks great.
Anyway, just wanted to pass it along for maybe something to keep an eye on.
This one is gonna be interesting.
He looked like that the entire Nebraska game.
this game will be a blowout
Nice one, comrade.
Tip off looks like 12:28 now
That Delany, from the goodness of his heart, gave us eight more minutes. All is well.
I clocked out for lunch at 12 so I could watch the first half. BOO.
Since when do surgeons clock out? Especially when they got the whole bureau looking for them?!?!
Blue. No excuses, Get it done
Noooo!!! not Jon Crispin
Is BTN2Go working for anyone? Can't get the stream to load.
Working here
anyone have a stream?
working now
It did the same thing for me the other night...both in my browser and the iPad app. BTN is trash.
I can't believe I'm saying this but after this whole mess I want the Dave "Pimp Hand" Brandon back - the one that was our hero after he told the NCAA and local media where to put it during the practice time "violations" investigation. Everyone remember that?
Take a few deep breaths, friend. Things aren't that bad.
Don't go that far. I will say that the I wish Warde would treat the NCAA and B1G with the contemptuousness that Brandon showed the NCAA in the situations it calls for it. Like this situation, or when the NCAA (SEC) is after the satalitte camps and such. Call them out. Threaten legal action if needed. But he just stood idly by it seems. However, Manuel also doesn't treat the fans, students, and alumni like crap either and generally seems good at running the athletic department and engaging with the UM community. However, his botching of of the hockey coaching situation is up there near firing for incompetance (or laziness maybe?). That's just bad.
That's what I was saying - not that I want all of Brandon with his nearly infinite faults, but I don't think anyone can deny that his first major "project" was a sucess. Contemptuousness in the situations that call for it is a great way to describe it - I wish we had that attitude/skill/whatever back.
Brandon got way too much credit for stretchgate not turning into anything. There was nothing there, so he got to hold a press conference and be smug about it. That was it. He seems very good at that. I am 100% certain that Warde Manuel could have just as easily put on a press conference that said "yeah, the NCAA didn't find anything to do with major rules violations."
I'd rather have an AD who treats the fans and teams well, doesn't waste money needlessly, actually have experience doing it elsewhere, and stand up for his programs when necessary.
Those jerseys do look silly, but in a memorable way at least.
These jerseys are hilariously awesome
Can't believe this is happening...those practice unis are ridiculous. And they're going to go out and crush these Illini assholes while rocking them!
trade shoes with MAAR. He can't rock red on his shoes. Right?!
they the pink breast cancer joints.
all equipment was kept on the plane for investigation. likely one of the broken in pairs he had available.
Crispin is a fucking idiot.
