AFC/NFC Championship Game Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on January 19th, 2020 at 3:03 PM

Mates,

It is Championship Sunday for the AFC and NFC.   After a foot and a half of snow up north it is sunny and gorgeous, albeit a bit windy.  A fine day to watch some football.

In the AFC the surprising Tennessee Titans go to KC to take on Mahones and the Chiefs.  Like many, I didn't think much of the Titans' chances to go this far, but I also didn't know their RB was 6' 3", 247 lbs, and an outstanding runner.  Wow.  Chiefs are a 7 point favorite, and kick off is in a couple of minutes.

In the NFC Green Bay is out west in San Franciso to play the 49'ers.  The Niners are a 7.5 point favorite.

So today's question is simply this, picking with the points:  Who are you taking in today's games?

Stay warm and enjoy,

I want the Chiefs to win it all. They’re tremendous fun.

Not confident they can slow down the Titans offense, though.

I lean Niners in the late game, but Rodgers could just light things up and that could be that.

Love the environment at KC. Big games. Football does them so well.

Probably not too many would want to trade Shanahan for Harbaugh right now. That’s not the point. I could find plenty that were pissed when he was fired. Also plenty of them would have rather had Harbaugh over Tomsula and Kelly. The 49ers got worse after Harbaugh left. John Lynch brought them back by drafting guys like Kittle and Bosa, trading for Jimmy G, and signing Sherman. But yep the 9ers fleeced Michigan and they were better off without him. I’m sure no other NFL teams would want Harbaugh over their current coach.

you are right about jed, but my brother should have nice things and he's a niners season ticket holder for years and will be there with some of his niner buddies.  for that reason i shall root for the niners. that said, i am the probably rare lions fan who always liked the packers so if GB wins, so be it.

I like Tennessee. They will shorten the game with Large doses of Henry. 24-21.

San Francisco will blow out the Packers. Their DL against the Packers OL is a huge mismatch. It will be glorious. 38-17.

Of all the playoff teams, I wanted the Patriots to win it all. My second choice was the Ravens and third KC. Following this trend, I expect the Titans to win.

In the NFC I want Green Bay to win by default because I don’t want to see Bosa’s racist ass to win anything.

Good try, Fredo. Kap is a clown. My ancestors were slaves.... guess what, this is still the greatest country in the world. If you don't like it, you and Kap are welcome to leave.

Go Chiefs!

Go Pack!

Fuck San Francisco and Fuck Vrabel.

I was wondering the same thing. Looking at their schedule, they split the games with everyone in their division even thought it’s not great aside from the Texans.

However, their worst losses were early in the season with Mariota. Going by the schedule, they look like a team that improved over the season, especially when they dumped Mariota. Tannehill lost his first game and at that point they were 2-4.

Two Michigan men in this game, who I’m not a huge fan of per some of their actions and characters issues.  That said, both Taylor Lewan and Frank Clark are playing good football these days.

Mahomes is Aaron Rogers evolved.  He makes more throws off his back foot than Jeff George back in the day, except they are accurate as can be.
Never seen a qb so effective throwing the ball while backpedaling, and rendering a good d-line and pressure almost innocuous.

tennessee's #60 is so round that the weather is different on his front side than it is on his back side.

and the titans' just put mariotta in for a goaline play.  interesting.

Frank Clark made a bunch of disparaging Pregame comments about Henry and how he's not that good of a running back. And now Frank Clark is getting his ass handed back to him which is very typical. The guy will never learn.  He is trash

KC scores fast. Tennessee's best bet is to keep the ball a long time and hope they only give KC a few more possessions the rest of the game.

KC has the lead. Doesn't look like Tennesse is going to stop them at all. KC probably pulls away now for a comfortable win.

Mahomes, man. What a run. He is so much fun to watch.

Good chance KC is up by 11 the next time Tennessee gets the ball... but I still think they’re right in this. Their offense is playing really well.  A loooong TD drive followed by just one defensive stop and they have the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead.

I won’t complain if Mahomes just lights everyone up, though.
