2nd Half Overflow Open Thread: Cotton Bowl Staee/Baylor

Submitted by jhackney on

Figured I'd split the three Bowl games into seperate threads to avoid large masses of posts all over the place and seeing how one can get lost in a thread approaching 300 posts.

This is your official 2nd Half Cotton Bowl Open Thread.

24-14.

This game is going to get away from MSU if they don't find a way to stop Baylor.

This game "feels" like it's going to open up pretty quickly and end up 55-14 or something like that.

Update: and just like that ... another TD for Baylor.

pls pls pls ask Dantonio about Harbaugh after this game. Surely someone in the press there wants a fun story.

"Coach, how much was your team distracted by the hiring in Ann Arbaugh this week?"

Most pro scouts and MSU people expect him out. I think he'll be gone and go as a 2nd/3rd rounder. A lot of people are going to blame Narduzzi leaving for the state of next year's pass defense, but I think they've been screwed ever since Hicks' has shown he doesn't have the goods.

This is true that most sites that compile the lists grade him as a first rounder, but I don't think they've done a good job placing where the NFL views MSU defenders. Dennard was rated as the top CB and a top ten pick, and the LB's were expected to be 3rd/4th rounders last year. All were gross overestimates. Obviously each case is ultimately unique, but I think they value hype and reputation of the school they come from a bit too much.

He may go in the first, but I don't see it. Dennard was worlds better than Waynes has ever been and the NFL wasn't chomping at the bit to draft him.

Yesterday they were layin' in the weeds on the RCMB. Harbaught? Where'sthe threat. We got Dantonio.

They are eating their own alive right now, and blaming Delaney for getting them into an unfair match-up when what they really wanted was a cupcake.

Sparty had chances in this game, but they derped themselves right out of it. They definitely aren't the same team, this year, that beat Georgia, or won the Rose Bowl.

I will say that it is my sincere hope that the MSU secondary looks exactly like this when September rolls around and that generally they look as vulnerable as they seem to be in this game. I had a notion that this might be close, but I continually underestimate the fits that Briles' offense can cause even a top tier defense.

This defense has been exposed. Top flight offenses like Ohio, Oregon, and Baylor all ran them off the field. Narduzzi made his move at the right time.
