Previously:

March and April 2009

May 1 - Friday

2009 Recruiting: Quinton Washington. YMRMFSPA - Steve Schilling.

tUnverified Voracity. Joe Paterno says he’s not actually coaching the team. No one is surprised.

May 2 - Saturday

MGoBlog site issues are getting fixed.

Mailbag about scheduling and what body types are needed for OL and WR.

May 4 - Monday

Unverified Voracity has a Tattoo of Itself All Over Itself; It’s Very Realistic. Patrick Lucas-Perry (LLPs younger brother) might be the top player in the state for 2011, ahead of Brandan Kearney and Carlton Brundidge.

May 5 - Tuesday

Tuesday Recruitin’. QB commit Devin Gardner went to a recent camp...and also worked out as a WR. Hmm…

May 6 - Wednesday

Unverified Voracity is Personally Writing This. Paterno mentions the idea of expansion and suggests Rutgers, Pitt, and Syracuse. But what about divisions? Also, the first mention of “dilithium”.

May 7 - Thursday

2009 Recruiting: Cameron Gordon. YMRMFSPA - Jason Avant or Prescott Burgess.

Apparently, Terrelle Pryor is getting emails from ‘M’ players. Brian takes a few guess about who it might be.

Zoltan Mesko

Motive: Michigan's lone player in the business school is marketing a TOTALLY LEGITIMATE scheme which isn't even a scheme at all, really, but just a sure 100% foolproof ways to make the moneys.

Example email

Subject: "l@@k! 1mpr0ve yr threwing motion no foolsies"

Dear Friend,

I am Mr. Boltan Tesko, Accounts Manager, of Abbey National PLC Bromley Rd Branch. I have an important business proposition for you.

May 8 - Friday

Unverified Voracity Analyzes APRs. Michigan’s numbers are ok, but they look like they’re headed down over the next few years.

May 11 - Monday

Brian tries to help newer posters understand why they might not get the warmest reception on MGoBlog.

Why do people keep crushing my face on the message board?

Because you're annoying. (Not you, specifically, guy who posted the thread.) In an information surplus economy people want things that are clear, to the point, informative, original, and/or entertaining. If you're posting in a near-illiterate pidgin or continually overreacting to minor news events people are going to get their dander up.

May 12 - Tuesday

Tuesday Recruitin’. FL CB Rashad Knight is offered and is high on ‘M’, but Florida St. looms.

Unverified Voracity Once Ate See Squirts. Marcus Ray was going to be a GA on Carr’s staff before he retired. Now he thinks he’ll be a big-time DB coach.

May 13 - Wednesday

TomVH interview with Rashad Knight.

Unverified Voracity with Law-Talkin’ Guy. There is a legitimate lawsuit against the NCAA and EA sports for unlawful use of likeness.

May 14 - Thursday

TomVH interview with Ken Wilkins.

2009 Recruiting: Je’Ron Stokes. YMRMFSPA - Mario Manningham.

Kelvin Grady has already left the basketball team, now it looks like the end of Gradys at ‘M’ with Kevin not following his court-ordered requirements.

May 15 - Friday

Unverified Voracity Gets a Pass. Smart Football has concerns that Rodriguez’s offense is getting too standardized, and it’s going to have to evolve to remain effective.

A long look at risks and rewards and end of game strategy, especially Carr’s ends of game.

May 17 - Sunday

OL Kurt Wermers is leaving the football team...and he might not be the only one.

May 18 - Monday

Unverified Voracity Shoots Howitzers, Dodges Hammers. The ‘M’ world is still trying to figure out how Rodriguez gives out offers. Are they all commitable? FL CB Travis Williams seems to be a test case.

TomVH interview with CA RB Brennan Clay.

May 19 - Tuesday

Tuesday Recruitin’. ‘M’ continues to lead for FL OL Torrian Wilson, and there continue to be good vibes from MN OL Seantrel Henderson.

May 20 - Wednesday

Alabama blogs are now claiming that Rodriguez is going to be cutting players to get under the roster limits, a la Saban.

Some site news and Brian is joining something called The Sporting Blog for This Week in Schadenfreude.

Unverified Voracity Paddles Uphill. Apparently, Greg Robinson will come up with some strange quotes.

May 21 - Thursday

Mailbag. Should we try to win the the Director’s Cup? Should the football team be scheduling good teams or pushovers? And again, what about all the offers Rodriguez is making?

Unverified Voracity Recoils from Zombie Horror. Misopogon (Hi Seth) with a mention for highlighting an...interesting story.

May 22 - Friday

A correction about varsity club teams from the most recent mailbag.

2009 Recruiting: Jeremy Gallon. YMRMFSPA - Steve Breaston.

May 25 - Monday

Unverified Voracity with the Half Cop-Out. The MGoBlog board has points! But they don’t really do anything yet.

May 26 - Tuesday

Tuesday Recruitin’. An offer has gone out to probably the best Punter in the nation, Will Hagerup.

A TomVH interview with OH LB Jewone Snow.

May 27 - Wednesday

2009 Recruiting: Teric Jones. YMRMFSPA - DeAndra Cobb?.

Hello: Jordan Paskorz.

May 28 - Thursday

Informative update on the DE/LB from PA.

John Calipari has processed several players. It’s not surprising, but frustrating.

UMASS and Bowling Green have been added to the 2010 schedule.

The softball teams opens the WCWS tonight vs. Alabama.

May 29 - Friday

Mailbag. Will ‘M’ be able to put out much in the 2010 NFL draft? More thoughts on the risk and rewards of certain styles of football.

In that May 11 post, there's a poster who is still around who is an important part of the board, but has a habit of complaining that the board has gone downhill and longing for the old days.

And ten years ago this poster was complaining about how things have gone downhill and longing for the old days. Well done.

Chris / Smart Football's reservations about the standardization of RR's offense (that is, it wasn't revolutionary anymore) weren't the biggest problem RR had in Ann Arbor but they sure were prescient with regard to the movement of football as a whole.

Agree about Smart football. Basically if you stop evolving your offense or defense you are going to die. And rapidly. Even during the season, as last year should have made clear.

Gattis' offense play design looked nifty in the spring 'game', let's see if he keeps changing things up all year long instead of standing pat.
