Did Justice Hayes get a fifth star?
While watching the Brady Hoke phone interview with RR, one of the graphics that flashed across about M's class showed Justice Hayes being a 5 star. Anyone else catch that?

those are tom lemming's rankings. he doesn't have one on rivals, scout or espn. but lemming ranks kids too and has been at it longer than any of the others.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
terrible at it.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:42 PM ^
no. he has the same top kids as the other services.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:49 PM ^
Look man, Lemming used to be employed by ESPN and was their go-to-guru for recruiting. I don't know the specifics, but he's not their go-to-guy anymore. And it's ESPN. So you do the math.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
Luginbill, and he kinda sucks.
February 2nd, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
I agree. Luginbill is the worst.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
ESPN is not the gold standard of journalistic ethics and professional integrity.
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
... and even they realized there was a problem. Lemming splooges his pants every time he sees a midwestern prospect and that goes double if they're committed to Notre Dame. (Hayes was)
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
but he has a habit of falling in love with guys and ranking them far higher than any other service. Which would be fine if he were right about it, but he's usually not (ranking McGuffie as a top 30 player springs to mind).
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
McGuffie was pretty damn good if you ask me.. just sucks he got injured so much, but he had some pretty good games when michigan had a terrible O-Line in 08
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
........and playing on UM's team this past season, would have been a very nice counterpunch with Denard. What got him was the bad O-line play and playing so much as a true freshman.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
I don't know, McGuffie didn't exactly set the world on fire at Rice this year. If he really was a top 30 player, he should be destroying Conference USA as a redshirt sophomore.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:35 PM ^
I have to wonder if his O-Line is good enough at Rice. Tough to get yards when your linemen are getting blown back every other play.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
is an idiot. He has Notre Dame as the best class in the country. Nuff said.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
I caught it and thought I missed something over the past week. Thought maybe all that happened during Malware 2011.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
CBS uses Lemming's rankings and he has Hayes as a 5*. He's also atrocious at ranking people.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:49 PM ^
if he is a 4 or 5 star. He is a Michigan Wolverine and now it is up to Hoke and Company to coach him up,
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
Thanks for addressing the 5-star/4-star Tom Lemming issue in such a succinct fashion, and not like over half the poster in this thread who are such whiners. Let the development process begin!
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Lemming's not very good...to say the least. If any running back is over 215 they're automatically a fullback. Although, he did say DG was the 9th best player in the country last year..so....

go to michigan.rivals.com and check stars - 15 seconds
go to michigan.scout.com and check stars - 15 seconds
time to find out yourself - 30 seconds
time to post a thread on mgoblog to have other people do the work for you - 25 seconds
thus, make a post on mgoblog = +5 seconds
qed.

as having a fifth star. Obviously not rivals or scouts.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:26 PM ^
or, at best, he had OMGZ found an error on CBS
in the meantime, 99% of the board probably didn't know CBS had stars, let alone (as I guess) the OP
the ire is obviously directed at a general laziness which is spreading into the readership. is the OP guilty of an egregious laziness? no. is he symptomatic of an endemic? absolutely. do i kick ass at scrabble? undoubtedly. (18 pts plus double word bonus. 36 points.)
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:37 PM ^
You should challenge B Hoke to a game of scrabble :)
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
he probably uses the old bo-era scrabble dictionary without all the newly approved words too so i would destroy him
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Look here asshole, I did all that. That's why I posted , because I wasn't sure wtf was going on.
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
could avoid embarrassing yourSELF in denigrating players who are tearing apart the conference because your untrained eye tells you they are dribbling the air out of the ball [insert similar inanity here].

go through my post history and find more than five comments about morris. i dared to point out that i was unsettled by selfish play/ego. didn't say he sucked, didn't say he was awful. said there were moments where he forgot he had four other players around him. simple as that.
but my haters will hate, factual basis be damned.
here, i did the work for you
it's here, here and here. that's it. and one of them is in response to being called out for the other two threads. bfd. most of it's based on the play of ONE game. beat another dead horse.
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
"said there were moments where he forgot he had four other players around him"
to many more of those moments and he might not be ranked 4th in the nation in assists.
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
G_B's lack of class and smarkiness is just so pathetic. READ THE QUESTION, DUMB ASS! He didn't ask what service bestowed a coveted fifth star, the poster simply asked this board if anyone saw it as well. Drop the pompous facade - which is seemingly endemic among many of the "veterans" of this board - and quit acting so boorish like typical OSU fans.

J. Hayes: #10 RB
B. Countess: #7 CB
D. Hollowell: #14 CB
C. Bryant: #15 C/G
C. Barnett: #19 TE
K. Jones: #22 ILB
B. Beyer: #24 OLB
By any of the major sites, we've got elite talent in this class. Just maybe not as much as we're used to having.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:34 PM ^
Lemming always seems high on Michigan recruits for some reason though. Last year he had our class ranked above all the other services, etc. I tend to take his work with a grain of salt.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
But it more or less corroborates what one or the other of the sites says about each.
<br>Today felt too much like a wake, too little like the new birth that it was. Some great young talent, some kids who may surprise, and some depth.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
I know for a fact he did not commit to an SEC team for a day just to get bumped.
February 2nd, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
They also had Beyer listed at an OLB...not too trustworthy of a source I'd say
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
The way I see it, it doesn't matter. Getting another star isn't going to make him a better player. He's going to be great whether he's a 4 or 5 star. No difference.
February 2nd, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
Nah, he's not a 5 star. (In many peoples eyes) He is a very good RB, though. Him and Rawls will be a lethal duo. Need a nickname for them...
