OT: Anyone drinking anything good tonight?
It's late on a Friday (well Saturday now I guess), and though I'm trying my hardest to get the girlfriend up to date on South Park (ugh she's on season four) she's fallen asleep with the promise of an early alarm clock. So here I am with my beer and missing the open threads of just a few nights ago.
My MGoDrink for the moment is Goose Island's Honkers Ale. First night with it, and it is not disappointing. Anyone else having anything noteworthy? Or have enough of something to make it noteworthy?

I got through another 20-credit week (typical schedule starts at 8:30 AM and lasts to 5:30 PM) and I'm celebrating with water in honor of David Lynch's Dune. I don't care how much it distorts the source material.
If you're wondering why I'm drinking water, it's because I have to get up tomorrow at 7:30 for required volunteering. Thursday is actually my best day of the week because I get to sleep in until 9:30.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:37 AM ^
Gotta love required volunteering

George Dickel wiskey! and some Trader Joe's beer...
January 15th, 2011 at 12:34 AM ^
ha ha, Dharma beer. looks like the beer from Lost.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
Can't beat a dollar a beer! A six pack for $6 is just too good to pass up.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:13 AM ^
I drank a lot of it back when I lived near a T-Joe's
January 15th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
Trader Joe's have their own beer?
January 15th, 2011 at 12:52 AM ^
The flavors include "vienna", "hofbraau" and "heffeweisen" (sp?)....not sure why I seem to have become the TJ spokesperson...

2006 Anthill Farms pinot noir, Demuth Vineyard. Yaktooki, it's good.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:41 AM ^
If you ever pass through south of Eugene, OR, King Estate winery is a great stop. Excellent restaurant at the winery with some mighty fine Pinot!
January 15th, 2011 at 12:45 AM ^
anybody who talks about pinot noir on this board gets pos banged. +1 to both of you fine gentlemen
edit: or gentlewomen
January 15th, 2011 at 1:36 AM ^
not sure how you ffel about foreign wines but to me it doesnt get better than OR pinot noirs
January 15th, 2011 at 2:25 AM ^
Love burgundy. It's the effin' SOURCE, man.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:45 AM ^
Anderson Valley (where Anthill sources from) is like California's Oregon. The guys who operate the winery are great dudes--they're in their late 20's/early 30's and they make better wine than almost anyone else in California.

Hop Slam just hit the shelves at most places this week, get you some

Well I may not be drinking the best stuff okay it's probably the worst and cheapest in this thread by a lot but I'm enjoying some MD20/20... Okay I'm not really enjoying it but it's a Friday, I'm on a budget, and it gets the job done.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
+1 for getting the job done. Whatever it takes, man. Just keep working hard at it.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:49 AM ^
MD20/20 and Schaffers beer were some of my forced favorites while in college. They were cheap. Though, I liked to party with my richer friends!
January 15th, 2011 at 1:08 AM ^
I like to party with them too but I felt like 10 Mad Dogs was a good use of my money. My fridge looks like the rainbow right now. I will admit orange actually tastes good. What was ur favorite?
January 15th, 2011 at 1:13 AM ^
If I get a vote in this, it's orange.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:16 AM ^
Dragonfruit is good too but it might be a fairly new flavor.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:23 AM ^
You must be 16 if drinking MD!
January 15th, 2011 at 1:34 AM ^
No I'm in college. Haha. Mad Dog for life.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:41 AM ^
HopSlam and some assorted Short's beers.
January 15th, 2011 at 10:09 AM ^
Shorts is where it's at

Sunny D and rum yum yum
January 15th, 2011 at 1:02 AM ^
Is cracking the Bell's Hopslam tomorrow night (well, tonight, technically). Anyone ever had it? Was wondering if it was worth the trip.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:04 AM ^
My uncle has great taste and drinks it. Haven't had it personally, but I'd go if I was in your position. Then again, that's just me.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:11 AM ^
January 15th, 2011 at 10:04 AM ^
It's awesome, just give yourself some time to drink it.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:11 AM ^
Good? No.
Just the usual weekend Texican Boilermaker: Tequila shot followed by a can of Pearl Beer. Actually, it's not bad.
Looking forward to the day when I can once again afford Hornitos (c'mon stock market....)
January 15th, 2011 at 1:13 AM ^
HOPSLAM. Minikeg. Boom.
Always worth the trip bossman.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:17 AM ^
The Brandy is a few years past its "Born On Date" so I'm mixing with some Hawaiian Punch packets.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:21 AM ^
Do you regularly do this? Ironically enough I have some brandy just sitting around. It was bottom shelf stuff (bought to try making eggnog) and I don't know what the hell to do with it.
I downed almost half a glass at a party last weekend, but it only looked cool until I needed something to eat as a chaser.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:28 AM ^
Have you drank X-Rated? It tastes like that. Kinda fruity with a little kick.
I tried some of it with on the rocks last month and almost met my maker. So I can't sign off on doing that. I'm a little heavy handed when I pour, so that could have been the problem!
January 15th, 2011 at 1:31 AM ^
Never tried X-Rated, but it seems like we have the same problem, so maybe I'll steer clear. Then again, I did chase it with a shitty piece of cheese last weekend and have some halfway decent chedder here...
January 15th, 2011 at 1:35 AM ^
Wow, that's interesting. I have some shredded sharp so now you're giving me something to think about. I would throw out the bottle, but I guess I'm too cheap to throw out cheap/bad liquor.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:42 AM ^
If I didn't know any better, we might be related.
Yea, I was at a friends house (college shithole) and saw Auburn kick their FG, so I took the bottle out of my backpack, poured a decent amount and chugged it. At that point I went, "Oh fuck." and scrambled to the fridge where the only thing I found were some Kraft Singles. Worked fine for me that night.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:43 AM ^
That's impressive. The only time I ever did that was when Mateen Cleaves was drafted by the Pistons. I went to my kitchen and downed some Tequila. I went for some milk -- don't know why -- and proceed to watch the rest of the draft with my roomate.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:45 AM ^
Very funny story.
Wanna take a stab at that brandy and chedder, or no?
January 15th, 2011 at 1:51 AM ^
I just did some reading and found out that one of my old co-workers were caught up in the DC Madam scandal a couple years ago. All the drinking we used to do and he couldn't hook me up, not once.
So now I have to make a few phone calls!
January 15th, 2011 at 1:53 AM ^
Does phone call mean baseball bat beating? Although I don't even want to think of paying Eliot Spitzer money to get laid.
January 15th, 2011 at 2:29 AM ^
Tried the brandy and cheese in not nearly as intoxicated a state.
Still bad. Ugh. It'll work, but wow is it bad.
From now on if it's a bottle, I'm not buying it unless it says Patron or Jameson on the label.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:21 AM ^
That sounds disgusting!
January 15th, 2011 at 1:29 AM ^
You just have to mix the right amounts. If you've drank X-Rated or Hypnotiq, it's similar to that.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:20 AM ^
Crown Royal
January 15th, 2011 at 1:22 AM ^
Ever drink it garnished with cherries? Or with grenadine?
January 15th, 2011 at 1:26 AM ^
I just add a little water.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:32 AM ^
If you put the cherries in the bottom of the glass, they're delicious when you've finished your drink. As in, delicious enough that someone should sell them.
