Dave Brandon should use this to pay Rich Rod's buyout.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
I wonder if people involved in the process can bet on it.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:28 PM ^
Maybe under an assumed name.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
Bave Drandon?

A Pimp Named DB?

Dave...Brendan.

lol It's definitely against NCAA rules. If you're part of the athletic department, you can't gamble on any NCAA sport, nor can you gamble on any pro games where the sport is also played in the NCAA.
Bodog will also close the action if there's huge movement one way or the other.

Is a coaching search a sport though?
January 9th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!! Yeah you showed him SNAP.

I don't have any money, but if they take mgopoints I'm there.
January 9th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
Of course I'm just an MGoPoint newbie but you're pretty much Lower Middle Class as far as MGoPoints go.
I'd save those things if I were you......
January 10th, 2011 at 4:32 AM ^
I'd rather have fewer, honestly.

other odds from site

Trgovac 15-1
Peterson 15-1

Insider sources are telling me the odds on favorite is somebody that will be bitched about endlessly here. That bet's like a 90% lock.

I wonder what the odds for Gruden have been for every other job that he has been rumored for... 10/1 seems pretty high for a guy who has "interviewed" for every job over the last 5 years.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
Hoke looks to be the frontrunner in Vegas. I find it comical that Gruden is only 10/1. I would put him more like 20/1
January 9th, 2011 at 9:29 PM ^
insider trading on stuff like this. There's no oversight mechanism and obviously there are people with inside information that stand to profit.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
Not sure on this one, but typically with bets on things like reality tv the maximum bet is really small, like $100 or so. They wouldn't allow anyone, even Bave Drandon, bet the endowment...or even a Trans-Am.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
On a bet such as this, the casino will have a set amount on how much they will pay out on a bet. Let's say $25,000. So if you show up with $10,000 to bet at 10/1 odds, your first bet will be $2,500 at 10/1. Then before the next bet is made, the odds will come down to 5/1 or 3/1.
They do the same thing with Horseracing futures as well.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
It would seem like the people who have that inside knowledge would already be comfortable enough financially that they aren't trolling online options to win a couple hundred bucks because they guessed right based on that inside info.

i.e. people with the information selling it to third parties, organizations, etc. People will do crazy shit for arbitrage opportunities (risk-free money). Hence the SEC.

I posted this on an earlier thread?
January 9th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
I searched for bodog and nothing recent came up. Perhaps it was deleted (in which case this thread likely will be as well)?
Have the odds changed since your posting? I found reference to this in some on-line article and the odds noted in the article were different from those at bodog...odds moved due to either heavy action or new information?
January 9th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
Hoke 3/2
Chris Peterson 15/1
Gary Patterson 5/1
Gruden 10/1
Whittingham 20/1
Miles 2/1
Trgovak 15/1
Hoke and Miles are moving already. Although there's most likely not a ton of action on this so some relatively small bets will move these odds fairly easily.

...and Roy as offensive coordinator. Penn and Teller for for special teams coaches. Barry Manilow, defensive coordinator.

I kinda like the Gruden odds. Call it a wish upon a star.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^
They should add an o/u for when they think DB will actually HIRE a coach.

I have a feeling this will be quite telling. Telling, indeed.

Did anybody see what the odds were for Madden -- even as a one year interim coach? That would be such an out of the blue (non pun intended) hire that all fanbase factions would just go "Huh" together as one. The opposing teams be completely distracted at each game because -- it's Madden.
