so he actually took less money to go to the NFL. So he money is not the reason he is in the NFL right now.

This coaching change couldn't have come at a more worse time. Doing my yearly "no booze for a month" sabbatical; easing the pain has become very hard. Damn my resolutions....
January 8th, 2011 at 12:14 AM ^
get it done with one of these boys! Les is a solution for 8 - 10 years which is near Lloyd's term. I don't think we can expect a 20 year commitment from a coach. Give Les a chance for this time and JH will be ready to come back. Lane Kiffin was hired on Jan 11th last year and still brought in the top recruit class. We can get a great class with the right guy and Les is the guy with recruiting ties to get the RIGHT guys who can compete. I did see Steve Mariuchi is without a job and is from the state of M.

this whole coaching debacle has brought all the crazies out. Poor MGoBoard.
January 8th, 2011 at 2:50 AM ^
Oh yeah, that works well. I can just see what happens to the rotation of the planet when Michigan's football coach is in man-love with MSU's basketball coach.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:14 AM ^
Les Miles is a proven coach that shows he can win. He is sleezy when it comes to recruits but the Big Ten will get on his ass about recruitng and he will learn quick that we don't recruit that way.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:04 AM ^
he would also learn quick that we suspend players from bowl games who violate NCAA rules and would never put players on the field two days after they got out of jail.
Oh, wait...yeah.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
Some guy just started a thread on tigerdroppings.com saying a radio station in Baton Rouge is confirming Miles to Michigan.
Radio stations on Clear Channel also confirming?

Listening to them now online...that's what they're saying. Miles to UM and Pelini to LSU.

Anyone else still holding out hope that Gruden gets offered and accepts his "dream job"?
<br>
January 8th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Where is Gruden's "Dream Job"? Surely not Michigan.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
just what he said in an interview with espn the magazine a while back...I have no idea if he actually meant it.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:48 AM ^
yessir. (imaginary) +1 to you, sir.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:49 AM ^
I kind of mentioned it on the front page, but one of the newer posters ReggieNoble04 has been saying this for what seems like 3 days (he apparently has inside sources, so i don't know), and we've all been shooting him/her down pretty hard (myself included). If this turns out to be true, this guy/gal had an impressive scoop requiring recognition.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:26 AM ^
They are talking about it non-stop. "their sources say that MIles will accept the Michigan job within the next 48 hours."

January 8th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
I was just watching the 2000 Orange Bowl on Youtube for the 1100th time. Man do I miss watching that type of football. Not to say I didn't have fun watching Denard play. Just something about growing up in Michigan and playing that type of football since I was 8. I know Les Miles does not run the same exact offense as Carr, but I'll be happier getting back to what it sorta looked like. Michigan junkie signing off.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:45 AM ^
I wish I could +1 you. Our offense didn't need desctruction, it just needed opening up (as Carr did against Florida). I'm fine with Miles or Hoke (or probably a number of other candidates).
January 8th, 2011 at 12:58 AM ^
I distinctly remember someone saying after Lloyd's finale against Florida: "There's a chance we'll be grumbling years from now that we had the offense we wanted for one game."
January 8th, 2011 at 1:01 AM ^
The adjustment to end all adjustments, and it took Michigan years to realize the scope of what they had done.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:24 AM ^
I remember standing fifteen feet away from Shawn Crable during his post-game interview.
"This one was for Kirk HERBstreit talkin' bout 'we ain't got any speed!'"
One of the best moments of my life.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:32 AM ^
I <3 Shawn Crable. I remember him drilling Brady Quinn's head into the turf, over and over and over again. Sigh.

January 8th, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
I've never liked Les Miles, but after watching that game I'm warming up to it. The grass thing is odd and his clock management is a drawback, but I like his offensive scheme, his defenses are always solid and he can recruit. The over recruiting I don't see as that big of a deal because I do it all the time on NCAA 11. I'd prefer Gruden out of the possible scenarios though.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
could not be lower.
I'm about 72 hours from adopting "FDB" as my official slogan. For politeness sake, we can assume "F" stands for "fail" or "fire", as it would be impolite and impolitic to assume it means" F*#&^&!", whether or not that is, in fact, the case.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:22 AM ^
The part of Miles being the next coach that is most in doubt to me is the defense. Chevis is a proven DC, but is an SEC guy. He was the DC at UT under Fulmer for many years before joining the staff at LSU. Would he move up north at this point? I'm doubtful that Les is the best guy available for most of the reasons already mentioned in the 1000 posts on the subject, but he would bring stability to a program on the brink of disaster.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
He's an established coach with a winning reputation that can entice a DC with the potential of an elite-level Head Coach promote-from-within opportunity.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
Soooo, your saying that you think Chevis would or would not come to UM? I'm confused...

January 8th, 2011 at 12:28 AM ^
A grass eating coach and a QB who doesn't tie shoelaces. Sounds like a good fit to me.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
+1 for lulz
January 8th, 2011 at 12:36 AM ^
might have the common sense (unlike his predecessor) to adapt scheme to talent. He's had mobile quarterbacks, has a fantastic knowledge of spread offenses, and can keep Denard in the fold. We are not that far away offensively, and if he's giving us hard look, he'll understand that.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:47 AM ^
Please try not to be so fucking stupid in the future. Rich Rodriguez was brought in to run his system, not the three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust shit that put fans to sleep for years and cost Michigan countless wins. RR was not hired to gradually implement the spread offense. ("Hmm...this year we'll allow the quarterback to run the ball three times per game....and next year we'll let him run the ball twice as many times!!!!") RR was stuck with Steven Threet at QB, and Threet would have sucked regardless of the offense he was asked to lead. The true common sense thing to do was to implement his system from Day 1 and get all of the players familiar with it so that they could all play their positions to the best of their abilities.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:29 AM ^
He's lied to players before. Which is one of the problems I'd have with him.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
If the contract isn't finalized he should tell the players he plans on coming back. What if it falls through?
January 8th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Somebody probably asked him, what's he supposed to say? He doesn't want things to go all "Herbstreit" again.
