New Roundtree Rule
I have, through intense scientific analysis, come to a new and exciting conclusion about the given natural laws. I move that a new natural law be added to the others:
If Roy Roundtree makes a spectacular catch and runs downfield with it, and is subsequently tackled at the one yard line, Michigan will not successfully punch the ball in, through any number of unfortunate circumstances.
But it doesn't matter, because WHOOOOOO WIN!

next time he should fall at the 2 if he can't make it in.

I drank too yaaaay

I disagree. There should be a new NCAA rule:
If Roy Roundtree makes a spectacular catch and runs downfield with it, and is subsequently tackled inside the one yard line, Michigan shall be awarded a touchdown for general awesomeness.
It's really been unfair to Roundtree's stats.

Who do we petition?

Maybe if Roundtree untied his shoelaces then he'd be a little faster...

He should quickly sprint down the field and personally tackle Roundtree at the 11 yard line, thus eliminating any recurring scenarios.
+1 to Blazefire for addressing this bizarre phenomenon.

No no. Denard throws the pass then chases down roundtree and at the 20 yard line hands it off to the DILITHIUM that he see's blazing by.
Guaranteed touchdown that way

I believe one of the little known properties of Dilithium speed is that it causes the users molecules to vibrate out of phase with the rest of the universe. Consequently, Denard can actuall run THROUGH Roundtree, pick up the ball on the way and continue the endzone.

I don't know if this has been considered, but I feel like maybe we should let Denard start trying to catch his own passes. This eliminates any problem with getting stopped at the one, as he can't be stopped at all. He can be the first player to go 200/200/200 in a game.
Flawless victory?
Flawless.

All kidding aside Roundtree really is turning into an A-list receiver. Great hands, especially in traffic. Guessing he will be wearing No. 1 at some point.
Hemingway wasn't bad either.

#1 is definitely in his future. He's got the game plus the off-field personality.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
...we just doubled our road victories from the last two years combined. Yippeeeeeee!

I was thinking the exact same thing when he went down at the one and we didn't score. Does winning the game break the Illinois curse of 2009? When it happened again, I was like a medieval peasant when a comet went through the sky- ready to dive in a well, thinking it portended the end of the world. Thank goodness for Dilithium, and the D showed some improvement in the second half (only 14 points- bent but not broken).

have a momentary sense of doom.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
It wasn't momentary for me. I worried about it until time expired...
The parallels were eerie.

I think everytime Denard has the ball in his hands the people controlling the soundboard at the big house should play "Magic" by B.O.B!
October 2nd, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
I do like me some B.o.B. (and Rivers Cuomo), but I'm gonna go ahead and say that'd be lame. Sorry.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
I was wondering who would breach this subject. What if we never try and "punch it" in if RR goes down at the one. The next 3 plays should be pass plays (out of the shotgun)!!!

to hemingway. he's clutch! woooo

If we're a speed team, recruiting speed, training them Brawisized to be fast, and run a speed offense...why are all our skill guys other than Denard are so slow? I mean, when we got all these small guys, I thought it was because they were fast...

If Roundtree was a little faster, he'd be a future first round pick.
October 3rd, 2010 at 12:30 AM ^
Those two are very fast actually. Cox is pretty fast too.
I agree that Odoms and Roundtree are more quick than fast.

On the plus side, since Roundtree isn't a burner, we'll probably get to keep him through his senior year.

I think Roy Roundtree might be my favorite player.
He's not the biggest guy. Not the fastest. But all he does is make plays. He gets open. Catches the ball. Gets what he can out of every play. Blocks his ass off.
And he's insanely likeable in interviews.
This team has a lot of really likeable guys. But Roundtree just might be the king.
Keep doing what you're doing Roy.
