Press Conference Today
I remember reading somewhere (probably on this board) that Coach Rodriguez was planning on having a press conference after practice today. I did a search and couldn't figure it out, but is he still planning on that press conference or no because the actual practice was closed to the media?
[mod note: Press conference notes below]
I believe it's at 7:45.
I saw 7:45 pm. Probably on mgoblue.com and I'm sure Tim will have notes up later tonight.
EDIT: Dang, RedGreene beat me to it.
Your mustache is not strong...
I can't find it on MGoBlue.com
but he canceled because he was afraid some of the information was repetitive and he didn't want to get neg-bombed.
Did find the cool practice video from today.
Rich Rod meeting with media : RT @chengelis: Seniors want 2 permanent captains and 2 others each game. Players vote tonight. 9 minutes ago reply
I saw this tweet as well and was happy to see that it appears we will have permanent captains this season. Honestly, I never understood RR's opposition to what is a universal feature of any football team.
Woolfolk and Schilling, anyone???
Both clear starters and the veterans on their respective sides of the ball.
Compromise. And RR was willing to listen to his seniors. Great
Yep, Schilling and Woolfolk would be my guess
That's an interesting idea. Give two players leadership responsibilities off the bat while encouraging the rest to keep it up so they could get voted captain at the end.
MVictors RR: Friday is the first contact practice, Sunday starts two-a-days
Joe_Stapes Which quarterback took the first snap? "Its a secret."
MVictors On Tate, knows he's got a lot to prove himself and he's willing to do it.
Joe_Stapes Regarding seniors calling Tate out about not coming to workouts, Rodriguez said he was glad seniors are taking ownership of the team.
MVictors RichRod: everybody that was injured is back except Will Heniger
mikerothstein RR: "I don't watch summer workouts" when asked about Forcier.
Joe_Stapes Michael Shaw is still completing summer school, has not yet been cleared.
MVictors On WVU allegations, deferred to prvs statment, will only talk about Michigan.
MVictors Seniors decided to pick 2 fixed captains! Voted today, will announced to the team. Seniors idea. Will be seniors.
mikerothstein RR: Impressed by punter Hagerup. Sounds like he'll be the guy for Connecticut
Joe_Stapes "I think we have a pretty fast freshman class."
mikerothstein rodriguez will give walk-ons scholarships this year like prior years.
MVictors Kelvin Grady says he's "a fulltime football player" says RR with a chuckle.
umbmad Talk about players tweeting. RR says players need to be careful-no ban! But is a concern
MVictors On Brock Mealer "I'm as proud of him as anyone I've coached" .
Good news about Hagerup. Hopefully Gibbons steps up.
varsityblue RR on Bama: "Those conversations are ongoing."
Looks like it's over...
varsityblue Full report from Rich Rodriguez's presser will be up on mgoblog in an hour or so.
...much rejoicing throughout the MGoBlogosphere (tinged with some regret).
varsityblue Fort Schembecher has returned, btw: media officially not getting into any practices this fall.
I really like this. You know why? All the media has done is try to make RR look worse and worse in every way possible during the offseason. So why give them the perk of getting to watch the practices? It'd be cool if he could just exclude the Freep (and other hack writers) that way, but I doubt only allowing reporters RR likes into practice is acceptable.
After the way many in the media have handled the more open culture of the program, I am glad they are closing down the Fort again. Sucks for us in terms of news, but it will be easier to protect the info that gets out this way.
that despite his strange and mysterious ways, Lloyd knew what he was doing.
I'VE ALREADY SEEN ALL OF THESE ON MY TWITTER FEED YOU ASSHOLE.
---obviously j/k Thanks for these!
...for the chuckle.
That's some funny shit and by the way, your avatar reminds me of my dad when I was a kid: blue bathrobe, mug of coffee (panther piss as he called it) and frowning face. Awesome avatar.

Take his "panther piss" with sugar or milk, or just drink it yellow?

Although the panther piss was when it had gotten old or when you leave a bottle of pop in your car on a hot day then take a fearful swig.
Full presser audio:
chengelis RR said team overall is in good shape but added: "a small group not ready to play div I football" said practice wasn't "taxing" weather-wise
I WANT MICHIGAN REPLAY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND, I KNOW I'M YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capslock is cruise control for cool.
THE CATALINA WINE MIXER!
...post is no more, here's the captain announcement from the horse's mouth:
UM_CoachRod The two captains for the 2010 season as voted by there teammates are LB Mark Moundros and LG Stephen Schilling.
The fact that Moundros is the defensive captain is interesting because it may mean that he's pushing Ezeh harder than we expected. Or it may just mean that he's a great leader, even as a backup.

Eric Mayes was a walkon captain from the LB position. (97)
Just say'in, sometimes it's not the guy you would expect that becomes the captain.
