Bob Griese on Chad Henne's "decision"
Bob Griese on why Mark Sanchez should stay at USC for another season (paraphrasing): "Chad Henne came out last year thinking that he would start, and he's a backup right now."
Except that Chad Henne was a four-year starter with no eligibility left. Kinda makes sense that he would enter the draft, no? Brilliant logic there, Bob.

Chad couldn't foresee that Farve was coming back, moving to the Jets, causing Pennington to move to the Dolphins??? I thought that was pretty fucking obvious.

by the Dolphins (he was a 2nd rounder).

Awesome.

i think it was great for Chad to get some quality back-up time behind the other Chad. flacco and ryan are the outliers, it's rare for rookie qb's to be so good.

I would love to see Chad Henne run an option keeper. Just try picturing that in your head, and I challenge you not to laugh.

not any less funny than threet

That's amazingly bad since (a) Griese (I thought) followed Michigan football pretty closely, if only because of his son and (b) Henne not only played for four years, but STARTED FOR FOUR YEARS.

No one comes out early to start as a rookie. They go pro for the cash money. It's all about the benjamins.

Or in Henne's case, Its all about the Washingtons. LOL!

It is a known prerequisite that you have to be a complete moron to be a sportscaster/analyst!!!
When I heard that I almost ran out of F words.

On a serious note, if I'm Mark Sanchez I'm definitely gone. Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy will all be in next years draft. Why wait and hope someone likes you more than them. This year he's got Matt Stafford, and knowing the Lions they'll probably ruin everything and draft him.
January 15th, 2009 at 6:26 PM ^
Tom, there's no way the Lions waste a first round pick on a QB and Stafford is not enough of an athlete to make the conversion to receiver.
January 15th, 2009 at 6:49 PM ^
I would hope they don't draft a QB (in the upper rounds, anyway), but you never know.
January 15th, 2009 at 6:28 PM ^
But if your Mark Sanchez, there's always a chance that the Lions will draft you. I think we may see another Eli Manning situation this year where the top Qbs say they don't want to play for the Lions.

in effect as soon as the 2010 draft class, it wont pay to stay in school.

at the earliest.

Detroit needs an o-line that doesn't, oh I don't know, suck major genitalia. Oher or Andre Smith...take your pick (I'd prefer Oher), but dammit no WRs or QBs!!!!!

I think he's actually comparing Chad Henne potentially going to the draft his junior year. The fact that he chose to wait till after his senior year is supposedly why he's a back up. At least thats the argument bob g. is making. of course he's way off nevertheless.

Maybe you should read it again.
Also, wtf. Griese probably announced a dozen games that Henne played in.

I like the guy because he has family ties to our program, but honestly, Griese's a pretty crappy color analyst. He gets tongue-tied all the time and rarely offers any real insight.
