Mo Hurst diagnosed with a heart condition at the NFL combine
Your the man Mo.
True. We are in the dark on this. I anticipate, however, that he already has initial testing results (in the case of the Combine, I suppose we'd call them screening tests; so at a bare minimum: ECG, likely, blood biomarker studies and, reasonably, a sonogram, too).
I can't imagine what would pull him from the combine that didn't come from an ECG (or blood screen or sonogram). I mean, perhaps, findings on physical exam of a murmur, jugular reflux, or widely displaced PMI, but those are the kinds of things that would most likely have been caught months to years ago.
It's impossible to confirm but seems reasonable to expect that "further testing" means testing beyond an ECG/sonogram.
I doubt that they would notice a displaced PMI on a guy his size.
While it could be a murmur, again a bit more difficult to auscultate given his size.
Likely to be premature atrial contractions, premature ventricular contractions, a bundle branch block with perhaps left bundle branch block raising concerns or maybe EKG evidence of left ventricular hypertrophy.
While he will need aditional testing to excldue anythig of structural concern, still has a good chance of being okay.
Would expect that they have echocardiography at combine, but perhaps not.
had a reduced ejection fraction on echo at the combine. So I'm assuming they do.
nuclear stress test for sure. this is the only stress test worth a damn.,.
Or did they find an ekg/echo abnormality, or hear a murmur on physical exam? I think saying diagnosed with a heart condition is a little bit misleading. They may have identified an abnormality, but it will likely take more testing before they "diagnose" any condition.
I thought I had AFIB after feeling some irregular heart beats after a run I had after I turned 50. Had a ultra sound test and all heart valves were working fine. Cardiologist just told me that PVC happens with age and most people don't notice it and I should try to ignore the occasional irregular heart beat. But if it ever becomes constant or increases it could weaken the heart muscle over time. But I'm clear to run as much as I want. I would say if you do notice an irregular heart beat you should be tested for AFIB which can lead to forming blood clots.
