BTT Open Thread: Night games
I know there's an open thread at the bottom, but it might get bumped soon. Feel free to delete.
OSU and PSU in a tight game with Purdon't - SUNJ to come.
6-5 M
Bad news for PSU.. their home loss to Rider looks even worse now after top-seeded Rider was upset by St. Peter's in the MAAC championship quarterfinal. "Big Ten: Our quarterfinals compete wtith the MAAC!" It won't really move their needle that much in the overall scheme of things, but (a) a few more wins by Rider would have helped their RPI, and (b) if the committee were discussing therm, a loss to a tournament team might not have looked quite as bad as a loss to a non-tournament team.
First ever double post, and it's about a Rider loss?! Neg away...
Hey, come on now. Besides, who doesn't love Richard Kiel, aka Happy's Boss in Brian's favorite movie? "I had to play off of Frankenstein's foot!"
4 of the 6 goals!
they'd be up 10.
This Baker kid is on fire.
2 to play
Rutgers looking to be the first major conference 16 seed.
This one really got me, b/c it is now only hilarious, but it may actually be true! If they win out (which they won't), they will be 18-18 with an RPI in the mid 100s (currently 196!!!). It would be hard to give them higher than a 15 at best. High comedy right now, Purdue exceeding expectations in the postseason choke department.
Especially since there are six 16 seeds. The chance that a hypothetical Big Ten champion Rutgers has one of the six worse résumés in the tournament is nonnegligible. :)
He's too loose with his one-hand pass motion and some of the needles he tries to thread.
But, yes, they definitely look on the upswing.
Another reason to raise a glass.
lol if that happens. Fucking Delaney is such an idiot
Rutgers may not be that bad. They had the toughest schedule in the league, playing all of the top 5 teams twice except us.
They have some athletes, but have no semblance of organization. They are pretty bad. They lost to Hartford (no, not the whalers). They also lost to Stony Brook (no, not the local golf course).
For the last-place team in the league, 15-18 isn't that terrible. (We went 10-22 in Beilein's first year.) That was against the aforementioned schedule. If they'd faced Nebraska's schedule instead, they'd probably be above .500 overall.
but it seems they're shooting from Albany.
Rutgers may have to be perfect the rest of the way to win.
that I've ever seen so many open layups. I can't figure out how Rutgers manages to draw Purdue to the ballhandler nearly every trip.
after getting within 1.
5:17 to play in the game.
"Rutgers is the first 14 seed in the Big Ten Tournament to make the quarterfinals!"
Uhh Rutgers is the ONLY 14 seed in Big Ten history. They've literally gotten last every year since they've joined...
Must be a NYC thing.
Rutgers won't go down without a fight!
to see that tie-up again.
Crazy how teams catch fire in single elimination games
I'm so invested in this game now. Lets fucking go Rutgers
betting you never thought you'd ever think that or that you ever will again.
Rutgers is playing the best basketball in this tournament in a while. I really hope Pikell stays for the long haul, he's made them so much better pretty fast, he can build a program. Geo Baker can't miss right now which helps.
Can't get the stop they need everytime they get within a bucket.
have the feel of a 4/13 and 5/12 pod. The 12 already won and now the crowd is pulling for the 13.
I love March.
It's Carsen. :-)
I won't admit how many times I went back and fort between the 2 spellings before I settled on the O. I knew it was wrong too...but it felt too right :(
These evening games have been fantastic.
