What's the Michigan sports-related hill you're willing to die on?

Worded differently: what's an unpopular view that you feel very strongly about for Michigan athletics? Gut-feelings are at home here, but bonus points are awarded (not actually awarded) for some evidence. Examples include stuff like, "Harbaugh is overrated," &c.

Unlike the rest of the fanbase I think Harbaugh is an excellent coach and I'm not willing to completely ignore the fact that our program was in shambles 3 freaking years ago. we're fine...in fact, we're better than fine. we have a very good football team.

I have a few fun ones:

  1. I think it's ridiculous Moeller was fired for his "incident," That may be 2018-perspective shining through, but it was / remains pretty silly to me, and I think UM would be in a completely different place right now had he been retained
  2. I think Lloyd Carr should have been let go years before he "retired"
  3. I think the Michigan Man culture over the past 50 years has been far more toxic and destructive to the program than positive
  4. I thnk Hoke - not RR - is the worst hire in Michigan's football history
  5. I think Jim Harbaugh is incredibly overrated by UM fans, but I also believe he's the best coach for us right now (those don't have to be mutually exclusive)

Re-populate the NFL.  I am convinced Harbaugh is the absolute best for this.

We lost ground, end Carr years and RR/Hoke.  This year won't be prolific like last year for NFL placements but we should start to trend up.  Which in turn will help recruiting.

Plus I'm really hoping that with the FBI going after basketball, that some of the cheating football schools might at least scale back some.   Jail time is a more effective deterrent than vacating some wins.

Harbaugh, like Beilien, does not have a level playing field for acquiring 5 star recruits.  He will however coach up more 3/4* into the NFL.

Nonrevenue sports should do what they can to save money, short of cutting sports or reducing scholarships. Among other things, they should play more nonconference games against opponents from MI, OH, or IN and take fewer long trips. Any money saved in this way should go to academic programs, not to empire-building in the athletic department.

The donors choose where their money goes: Ross donated that $200m in 2013 to athletics and the business school, aka his donation benefitted like 8% of the student population. I don't know how or what the University has to do to find a sugar daddy donor for major academic programs but until then expect to see another shiny new toy that is useless 8 months a year *cough lacrosse stadium* and not more improvements for every day students.

Mustard yellow is not maize.

(I'm mostly okay with Nike's current colors, but my ideal "maize" is somewhere between the current color and the highlighter era. Just think the brighter color pops more against dark blue. The "Kraft mac n' cheese" orange yellow being proposed by some was hideous)

White pants suck.

I think the general perception of the FB program today, and even Harbaugh personally, is directly attributable to that loss. If we won (as the record books reflect wins), we feel entirely different right now. Sure we might still have concerns, but that loss was a psychological killer and I fear it has done some lasting damage. I hope it’s not irreparable.

Michigan should leave the Big Ten and get our own “TV” deal. This may be through Amazon or Google or another streaming service. The days of traditional TV are almost over and we should get ahead of it. At the same time, the Big Ten neither likes nor appreciates us and Jim Delaney is Dick. I say we tell the Big Ten to fuck off, get a national schedule on our terms and competent/impartial referees to boot. Are you with me?!?!?

...away uniforms existed from about '96 to '03, and should be the model for all future away uniforms.

White pants with stripes are a hideous look for M and should be left in the 1970s.
