LiAngelo Ball Leaves UCLA

Submitted by RamblerRobotics on

Reading between the lines it looks like the suspensions to Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill are going to be long enough that those players won't be seeing the court anytime soon so LaVar pulled the plug. They definitely will not suit up to face Michigan on Saturday.

That's good for us because UCLA has been thin in the frontcourt and could really use their 4* big men. Their center is a double-double machine but he doesn't have a backup and their forwards haven't provided much.

But a little schadenfreude never hurt anybody and LaVar's meltdown has been pretty comical. He claims that the punishment is too harsh, especially for a player like LiAngelo who he thinks is the best shooter on the team. He also isn't transfering and will just work out for the draft(?). Finally, he claims that UCLA used him to get Lonzo which is true but only because LaVar made them a package deal.

At least UCLA can get out of their commitment to LaMelo, the most overrated recruit in the history of college basketball.

Seems sad that his Dad thinks it is a good idea to throw away a college education that is paid for. Not sure what the two younger brothers will do with their lives. Lonzo has talent but his Dad’s antics could ruin his career if teams don’t want to deal with the clown show that comes along with him. Sad story all around.

If I were a coach or GM, I wouldn't want one of Ball's kids on my team in a million years. He feels rules don't apply to his children. He's withdrawn 2 kids in the last 2 months from school because he's "unhappy" with coaches. What a buffoon

Last year compared to this year. Last year was "Damn, I'm getting media attention, I have a son that will go Top 2, and two more in the pipeline, and Big Baller Brand is making moves.

This year: "My oldest son has been absolute garbage in the NBA (I will never admit this) my middle child caused an international incident and I will pull him from school to train him for the NBA, which I have openly said he will not make. LaMelo ain't going to that nowhere program in Westwood either, straight to the G-League."

What a difference a year makes.

He may have a hard time finding a new school. Not because he can’t play, and not even necessarily because he shoplifted.

It’s because of his dad.

A lot of programs are not going to put up with the bullshit that LaVar brings to the table. Who’s going to want to deal with him sounding off to ESPN about how they’re not giving LiAngelo enough minutes, or not scheming him the right way? That and just the bad image LiAngelo brings of being someone who’s a big enough dumbass to shoplift in a foreign country. Huge maturity issues, but what would you expect from a kid who’s dad teaches him that the rules don’t apply to big ballers?

Two things just happened to you:

1) Your Kardashian Factor just dropped significantly.
2) China just pointed their missles away from Los Angeles.

The kid just committed shoplifting in a foreign country. The whole world knows what kind of circus shitshow that LaVar brings to the table. Who’s honestly going to sign him? LiAngelo isn’t some can’t miss prospect.

He’s a liability. And his dad is a shitbag who thinks he’s ten times smarter than everyone in the room. Way to deny your son the right to an education you fucking asswipe. God knows he’s going to need something to fall back on after he flames out in some D-League in buttfuck nowhere, Macedonia.

Don't know much about this guy, and that's too much. We all know the way to lead our kids to a well-adjusted, happy life as an adult is to let them know whatever the fuck they want to do is perfectly fine and there are no ramifications for talented or semi-talented people as long as your dad is a fucking asshole that will deflect all the news toward him.

i hope this young man, who seemed to make the right first step in his presser upon his return, realizes what a douche his dad is and although he won't, nor should he admit it publicly, makes the right decisions going forward and let his father know that he should step back and that he knows what is needed and he wants to play ball and get his degree because, as others have said, there is no guarantee with this young man on the hardcourt.

LaVar makes it increasingly difficult to root for his kids, no matter how soft spoken they may be(well, two of the three are mostly quiet anyway).

That said, LiAngelo is the only one who can make the decision to leave school. He's an adult. We all know his dad is the one pulling the strings but we can't fault an adult for making a choice regarding his life. It wouldn't have been the choice that I would have made but I'm not the one who committed a stupid crime in another country which caused my college career to be in limbo.

People are getting too caught up in their feelings when it comes to LaVar and other polarizing public figures. And it causes a trickle-down effect that leads to them hating anything even remotely associated with these figures: Their friends. Their employees. Their family. Etc. Opinions are fine but the level of venom wasted on loudmouth celebrities should be reserved for the real bastards of the world, not glorified "stage moms".

Lonzo is the only one who will have a long NBA career. LiAngelo never will be on a roster, and LaMelo is extremely overrated. Watching his tape, I don't see how this kid is a 5* based off his talent. His D makes James Harden look like Bruce Bowen.
