Cowherd guarantees Mich will win (at least) 10 games in 2017

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

So, the guy who once said Michigan had no chance of landing Harbaugh has been on the Harbaugh bandwagon for a while now.

Colin Cowherd doesn't like USA Today's article that said Michigan is a "mystery." According to CC, there's no mystery: Michigan's going to win a lot of football games, by a lot.

This would mean something to me if this talking head's employer were to issue a statement indicating that his employment would be terminated if Michigan fails to win ten games. Otherwise, I'm not sure what he means with this "guarantee." Anyway, it was cute when Joe Namath did it (personally forcing Earl Morrall to go 6-17-71 with three picks before getting pulled). Since then, not so cute.

really don`t care what the 'experts' say , never really did. if they were right most the time or really knew any more than the rest of us they would all be super rich. being right 50% of the time is a coin flip last time i checked. wow!

Colin Cowherd is not a great sports commentator.

But he is not as obnoxious as Jim Rome.

And he is a billion, trillion, zillion times better than Pete Finebaum.

I guess I'm in the minority but I just don't see James Franklin beating Harbaugh with what they each have at their disposal. Everyone says you can't look at the PSU game last year as a barometer (which I don't really agree with, but whatever), but what about in 2015 when we beat them 28-16 in their house? I get that PSU beat OSU last year (thanks in large part to two fortunate special teams plays and PI that wasn't called on OSU's final drive...McSorley played like shit in that game btw). I get that they beat Wisconsin by 7 (so did we). I get that the crowd will be wearing white t-shirts and that supposedly impacts what occurs on the field (seriously?). Look, I'm not chalking up @PSU as a sure win for us, but a lot of people including Sam Webb, Marcus Ray, and now Colin Cowherd are chalking it up as a near-certain loss. Why? What am I missing?

Franklin would be lucky to hold Harbaugh's jock, M will have the better game plan and be more prepared.

Game still has to be played by these kids though. PSU as a team is solid competition for us, beaver stadium - possible night game.

Nice placement on the schedule, bookended by IU and M's satellite home field in jersey.

I think we win that game by at least 7 points.  We have the better coaches, we have more talent, we'll have experience for the younger guys by that point in the season.  There are certain opposing coaches that Harbaugh seems to have it in for.  I believe Franklin is one of them.  Harbaugh will have the guys ready.

Until we go on the road in Madison I'm more worried about one of the cupcake's biting man or the giant sleeping than I am about the big games. We will either stomp or beat handily both Florida & Penn St. We'll be a threat to stomp any team on any day, including The Game, but of course it's easy to imagine a struggle at Wisconsin for all the obvious reasons.

Ohio St. is ours this year, there is no losing to them again this time, I can't see us losing again this time.

We might have a let down game against an also ran, we might get beat by Wisconsin but we'd beat them 6.8 out of 10 even with OSU next each time.

So if we really keep total focus every week, play asses off every game, lucky with injuries and no more total thefts by refs where they cause 21 point swings or more with bullshit call after call and no call we could pull off 12 - 0 going into Indy & then anything can happen. Or we lose one or 2 games. It will take bad luck or bullshit to lose 3 or 4 games this year.

I personally think his favorite school is USC, which is why he's been Harbaugh's biggest mouthpiece even early on at Stanford. No doubt our fanbase is wary of analysts like him after mr.egghead from the SEC praised us originally with Harbaugh. But as long as the wins keep racking up, I think Cowherd's admiration for our program will continue

Cowherd has improved since leaving espn and I think he views himself as the anti-Finebaum in ways. Knowing penis face is beholden to espn producers, has already taken a very vocal anti-Harbaugh/BigTen position, Cowherd comes in as 'objective' and 'calling it how he sees it' vs puking the company line. Not a bad strategy given how terrible espn has become in terms of CFB sports talk content

Can we stop giving this gasbag more attention?  Yes, in this case he said something favorable about Michigan. But he's proven to just say whatever will get him the most attention. He has no insider info, nor any particular expertise. I'd prefer to read about stuff that actually provides info about our team, rather than hot takes by moderately famous personalities.

My belief is that they may drop the PSU game. Just like the Iowa game that will be a really tough game based on the environment and youth, however by the time they get to the Wisconsin game the young players will have 10 games under their belts and will win a low scoring game in Madison. Then for the first time in Jim Harbaugh's young coaching career at Michigan he will lead the team to a close hard fought win with a young talented team over OSU!!!

If we beat OSU, I don't care if we only win 8 games and go to the frickin' Holiday Bowl. A double-digit win is meaningless, to me, if it means we lose to OSU again. Hell, I'd probably throw away a conference title if we beat OSU in exchange.

10 games is possible, but that will require beating at least one of Wisconsin, PSU or OSU. So we either need a huge road win, or a relatively big upset over OSU.

I think Bobby Bowden once said that as you go through your coaching stops, you should expect to lose big, then lose close, then finally break through and win close. Then you win big. We've already lost big and lost close to OSU. Hopefully this is the year we can at least win close.
