but mostly for nostaglic reasons.  As a guy who turns 50 this summer, I've come to realize the Olympic summer games and it's 4 year cycle are one of the ways you start marking your life by..  On the other had, as a guy turning 50, I now notice things like Bob Costa's cosmetic attempts to defy aging.   It's a little disturbing yet I can't look away.

Costas was a very heady- high IQ kinda guy, deceptively quick with interjections. Was his father an announcer?  Was probably always hanging around the studio as a kid.

Good riddance.  Perhaps NBC can actually put the focus on sports now instead of 5 minutes of highlights and 55 minutes of vignettes sprinkled with Costas' politics sprinkled in.  I like the entertainment of the Olympic sporting events.  Emphasis on sporting -- not that miserable little troll's carrying on about what he thinks you should think.

Tirico is like a good referee -- you hardly know he's there. It's never about HIM, is just about telling us what's happening. OTOH, I literally cringe everytime Costas comes on the air, waiting for his sanctimonious and self-righteous b.s.

Like Tirico better than Costas, but I have a feeling I will start to like Tirico less as he does more and more stuff for NBC. However, listening to Bob Costas be the narrating voice of the Olympics and negatively critiquing him is a personal tradition I will miss.

Love Tirico, he will be great. But why all the vitriol for Costas? He replaced a legend in McKay for olympic coverage and stood the test of time. I get that he plays up the emotion of events (particularly covering his passion, baseball), but provides good analysis of a broad range of sports. Even if he isn't your favorite sportscaster, I don't get the level of hate he is receiving here.

Have always like Tirico.  Costoc always seemed to full of himself and veered away from what he was supposed to be doing an awful lot.  I could get that crap on CNN.
