Innocuous, Non-terrifying Injury Update re: Evans, Hill

Submitted by uncle leo on

JH was just on 97.1 FM a few minutes ago.

Said Chris Evans practiced yesterday and didn't show any symptoms, will be re-evaluated today.

Didn't know but apparently Khalid Hill got hurt in the game last week. Would be looked at again today but should be good for Saturday.

are all nicked up.  At one point all 3 were out in the 2nd half vs Maryland.  At that point, MSU only had Fresh and Soph in at DBs.  I expect Mich to go down field with the inexperience on MSUs backend.  Offensive line is banged up as well.  Per Det News:

Redshirt freshman Tyler Higby started his third straight game at left tackle last week and freshman Thiyo Lukusa played most of the second half at right tackle.

Youngsters all over the place!!

If only Thebes had finished off the Spartans in East Lansing too back in the 4th century BC, that would have made the last 2,200 years or so much simpler for Michigan fans.

In all seriousness though, my knowledge of MSU's injuries is based on chatter from people in my office right now, but I think someone told me that Terry, Beedle, Hicks and Miller are all questionable, and I know Reschke was supposedly out for the duration, along Raequan Williams. I could be missing a few.

I was on the field for Homecoming.  After a trip up the tunnel to use the facilities, I passed Hill making his way to the locker room.  He was with two assistants, but appeared to be walking fine and seemed to be hurrying rather than taking his time.  Hope everything is all right with the Hammerin' Panda.

Thanks for the title update mods :)

For those that may have urinated or done otherwise in their pants or leggings, the beer is on me (insert Kwame joke here).

from the sub.  Almost feels like they resubmerged this week.  Great news about Evans.  He took quite a vicious hit that looked like targeting.

I am assuming they did not ask about Tyree Kinnel? Great news about Chris Evans and the Hammering Panda. Wouldn't be surprised if we took it easy with Evans this weekend though. Higdon can average 10 yards a carry against Sparty D.

Great news regarding Evans. I thought for sure he'd be out this week, maybe next as well. He literally got knocked unconscious so I guess some knockouts are "better" than others?

I would love if Evans played this week. He is a great back. However, his health is the number one priority. If he has even the slightest of symptoms, he should sit. Plus our other RBs are pretty damn good.

On a side note, I coached a kid in high school a few years ago who is a walk on at PSU. He sent me a text yesterday saying how much better the players/coaches thought Michigan was than Ohio St. Said our oline/dline was by far the best they played. Said they also felt like our team speed was greater except for at QB and safety. I didn't ask which coaches/players said this specifically, but figured I'd share this.

Agreed. Maybe if it weren't a hard hitting rivalry where the opposition didn't have a recent history of some questionable/dirty tactics you might would give him a few touches in space... But unless a miracle occurs over all 4 quarters, his services shouldn't be needed.

Was at the game last weekend and did see Hill walk off late in the game. Didn't seem anything major though as he wasn't limping or favoring anything. My guess is the Hammer was just tired from all the Touchdown's he is scoring.

It sounds like Evans does NOT have a concussion.  They are simply following the the protocol in case symptoms show up at some point during the week.  But if he doesn't have a concussion, there's no reason to keep him out of the game.  Because there's nothing wrong with him.

Had he tested positive for a concussion following the game, then yes, they'd probably rest him for the appropriate time.  But that doesn't sound like what's going on here.
