Larry Foote: "I want to be a Cardinal"
According to this and this, Larry Foote has made his preferences clear as to where he wants to play next year.
"I'm begging. I want to get back to a winner. I feel more comfortable with a 3-4 (defense). Pittsburgh wants me back but I want to be a Cardinal and hopefully we can get it done. First of of all, they're winning. I know 'Whiz'. I know his pedigree, what type of coach he is, the talent they have here. They have a good chance of going back to the Super Bowl."
Glad to see he came to his senses
You know it's gotten bad for the Lions when people are choosing the Arizona Freakin' Cardinals over them.
The Lions never offered him a new contract and he was complaining about it to the local papers a month ago. The Lions drafted their MLB of the future last season (DeAndre Levy). Good luck to Larry wherever he goes.
Who would ever want to get to play the Seahawks and Rams twice a year each? Your stats would get out of control! Much better to wrap up meaningful games by mid October.
I'm not a Cardinals fan, but I did watch them play in February once.
Playoffs twice in a row...less than a minute away from winning a Super Bowl.....relatively young and talented team....and you don't have to live in Detroit. Who wouldn't choose Arizona over Detroit?

I'd give my left nut to move back to Detroit.
Those who stay ... Oh, wait, nevermind, we are talking about the Lions.

...will be part of a historically bad franchise, whose management and coaching decisions have caused much consternation within the fanbase?
The Lions vs. Delaware State would be a cool preseason game.
The Lions would kick the shit out of any college team you put them against.
I like your handle, but your post stinks of unwashed grundle.

I thought it was a transcription of this, but wasn't sure.
I thought you were having our first MGoSeizure. I mean, I've seen meltdowns on the Board before, but never in one post...
well done minus one very important part
[head dance] FTW!
How sad is it that I have trouble accepting that?
EDIT: Sorry about the incorrect placement of this comment...

very sad, all joking aside though. any pro team, no matter how bad, could name a score against any college team regardless of the talent on that college team.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:22 PM ^
I believed this for a long time, but disagree in one circumstance. I can almost guarantee that the 2004/2005 USC team would have demolished the 0-16 Lions.
There was 3X as much talent on that USC team as the Lions had, and they ran a pro offense and defense. I honestly think the Lions defense was bad enough where a great college team could have scored at will.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
I can almost guarantee you are full of shit. Maybe in the skill positions USC could hold their own, but pro O and D linemen matching up against college kids would be a massacre.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
The Lions would have won by 50. USC, or any other college team in history, wouldn't hold their own in any facet of the game. Leinart would have left the game in a body bag.
I believe in the pre-superbowl days (I think 30's-40's) at the end of the football season the College national champion played the pro football champion and there were a few times when the college teams won... College won something like 4 out of 30 but they won a few nonetheless.
However, that was nowhere near the modern era of football and with today's players there is no way that would happen.
the Lions championship team of '58 lost to the college all stars 35-19.
He's Catholic?
Michigan West. Between Watson, Branch & Breaston, Blue is already very well represented in Cardinal red. Too bad Shazor never panned out...
Not sure if Foote realizes that these Cardinals are without Warner, Boldin, Rolle, and Dansby. Yeah they play in the NFC West, but this team isn't close to the one that went to the Super Bowl, let alone the playoffs last year.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
They'd be lucky if they made the playoffs next year.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
And the lions will be better?
March 11th, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
At least the Lions seem to be making some coherent moves that help them now. I wouldn't be totally shocked if the Lions did better than the Cards next year. They probably still won't, but they could.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
I recall just a year or two ago he was all geeked to come play for the lions. I was confused, as they suck and he is old. The Cardinals aren't that good now, IMO, after losing all those players. The Lions, however, have added some guys and I think they are moving in the right direction.
He is old and has 1-2 years of playing time left. In that time, who do you think has a better chance of going to the Super Bowl, the Cardinals or Lions? I'm positive the answer is not the Lions!
I wasn't confused about him wanting to go to the Cardinals, I was talking about his original interest in the Lions (although the Cards aren't good at this point). He said he wanted to build the city back up or something, but we all know that isn't possible.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
after spending a year with the Lions is "I want to be sedated."
March 12th, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
"What the hell was I thinking?"
Foote wants to play for his Pittsburgh D Coordinator, players follow coaches all the time in the pros, that's all this is.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Damn it.
