That is still crappy. There are plenty of other games to watch when Michigan is on a bye.
I don't want to be anywhere but in front of my televisions every time there is college football on. Weddings can easily be scheduled on Saturdays or Fridays when football is not in season.

Noon kicks are better for football watching if you attend the games. You can get home for at least the second half of the 3:30 games. 3:30 may be great for drinking and tailgating but crappy for watching football unless you have an RV with a big screen. a short way away.

We go around on this everytime a kickoff time is anounced. Wonder what the % of Mgoblogers is that like the noon kick. I bet its less than 50%.
I've been to every home game the last five years and love the later starts for tailgating. But even before that when I had young kids and no season tickets, I still liked the later games so that I could settle in for the day have a beer and watch the game with no responsibilites after.
I've never understood the thought process that basically comes down to - I'm love noon starts that I can get the Michigan football overwith and get onto other things. For me Michigan football is the main attraction and needs star billing which is either 3:30 or night game.

I guess if you only watch Michigan it does not matter when it starts, but if you love to watch other games - I watch Thursday, Friday and Saturday - you can catch more football with noon games.

It's all relative. Noon kicks suck when you have stuff to do in the morning and won't be done by noon. That's why I will miss most of the MSU game because I have to take a dock out at the wife's grandparents lake house Saturday morning. This is where a 3:30 kick would help me.

I love it. If we beat them, the jokes on us, cause they are so bad. that's the "elite program" mentality I keep hearing about from them.
Also love the "UM can only beat MSU when UM is all seniors and MSU has the worst team it's had in over 15 years" - because 15 years ago was when this rivalry began.
ALSO, love the shot at UM's "real resume concerns this year." Like curb stomping every opponent thru seven games is more concerning than hanging on for dear life against FBS Furman, date raping an unconcious ND team, and then losing five straight - 3 to conference bottom dwellers. Clap, clap, clap.
Let's just win saturday and move on, and they can be left to justify it all they want.

LOL I saw that comment, too. Yeah, Michigan is just ALL seniors. Riiiiight, MSU fans. I saw plenty of comments basically saying they don't care about this year (yeah, ok) and they'll be ready next season. Um, ok. And a Harbaugh-led team in year three won't be ready? Suuuuure. One guy said "if Michigan runs three straight against, then things have changed." Things already changed LAST year. Yeah, they won (the luckiest of all time), but Michigan finally has an elite coaching staff again and showed that they can beat those assholes.
But yes, we'll hurt them the most by winning. We're also going to beat the next year.

Is such a comlete shit show, it's really pretty amazing to behold. I check it out every once in a while, just to gauge their pulse, but it's incredibly stupid 100% of the time.
One time, probably five or six years ago I created an account and posted a comment. This comment was not in any way rude or inflammatory, it was well reasoned, and IMO, objective. I was immediately banned. Now I go there maybe once or twice a season, read a page or so of their knuckle dragging comments, and that's about all I can take.
They are the most perpetually aggrieved, Napoleon complex having fanbase that I have ever seen. It's quite breathtaking, really.

Just unreal how they can have it both ways: claim one month they are a true national power football program, then say, well this game doesn't matter cause we aren't good this year and you are all seniors...but watch out next year! (what, when you are all seniors, and - by your own logic - the game wont matter?)
And bitching about how weak our schedule is? Granted, we don't play in the SEC West....but as we are conference colleagues, don't they pretty much have the SAME FUCKING SCHEDULE? the only difference is our non-conference....and there's will be a combined 2-43 this season.

My senior year (99-00) I lived up on High street with 12 other guys. Each year we get together to tailgate for one game. This year that game is Maryland and I am loving the idea that I can show up at 10 or 11 instead of 7/8.

but I'm getting sick of all the 3:30 home games. As someone who lives locally (Ann Arbor) I'd rather get home earlier and when it's still light out. I can imagine for those driving an hour or two home it's even worse. I guess it's the price of being one of the top teams in the country.

Living in Fort Wayne, it is 2 hours and 15 minutes...and that is when you finally make it to the damn highway. I am unfortunately left to listen to football on the radio on the way home, wife sleeping and me barely awake from the nice long day of tailgating. For Maryland, I will be staying this time in Toledo for the night. Told the wife we're going to spend a little more money next weekend.
I love noon games, Get to tailgate after and traffic clears out, home in time for the night games. Still have a life. I dont mind the late games half the time, but driving home at night in November with the deer and snow can be brutal.
We all have our reasons.

For me 3:30 allows me to get to AA around 10:30, set up the tailgate and get a good 3.5 hours of pre-game fun in before heading to the stadium. Post game I call Cottage Inn as I'm leaving the stadium and pick up the pizzas on the way back to the tailgate. By then my son has the satellite up and we watch some of the late games while we have dinner. The goal is to get home by 11:30, so anyway you look at it it is a full day. Noon games mean leaving FW around 6a ... ugh.
BTW - you can find cheap hotels around Milan vs driving to Toledo.

This thread is as I imagined it.
I am just here to watch another game time announcement devolve into a discussion about why certain times are better. I only say that because it seems like a great number of us make it work regardless, even if we are muttering under our breath the entire time.
My own preference is 3:30 PM honestly because I have more control of my day overall then and don't need to rush out there door or pretend to be a morning person, but as long as there is coffee, noon can be made to work too.
