The 22nd best athlete in Michigan History is...
LaMarr Woodley
Woodley played for Lloyd Carr's Michigan team from 2003 to 2006. He predominantly played defensive end and sometimes linebacker, depending on the front seven's alignment. In 2006, Woodley was named the defensive captain of the Wolverines by his teammates. He collected 12 sacks as a senior and won the Lombardi Award as the best lineman, offensive or defensive, in the country.
Lamar Woodley was Second Team All-Big Ten in 2004, Honorable Mention All-Big ten in 2005, and broke out in 2006 when he earned First Team All-Big Ten, Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, and Big Ten Defensive player of the year. In 2006 he was a unanimous All-American and also won the Ted Hendricks award for best defensive lineman in the country.
Lamar Woodley was drafted in 2007 by the Pittsburg Steelers at 46th overall. With the steelers he has been selected to one Pro Bowl(2009) and has won one Superbowl.
Here is a video that shows his highlights at Michigan and it also shows how far our cameras have come since the mid-2000s.

I love Lamar Woodley, one of my favorite defensive players ever to play for Michigan. Maybe even second favorite behind Woodson. Woodley was an absolute monster. Remember - Guns don't kill people, Lamar Woodley does.
That video, however, is terrible.

I recall watching him in the season opener his freshmen year. The first thought was how bad it must have been for the Saginaw Valley football players the previous three years. This was a young man who did not even have time to hit the college weight room and he was The Player you could not pull your eyes away from. Think Jabrill Peppers minus 5" in height and you're close.

Nevermind, I checked and it's disabled. Carry on watching Woodley lay the lumber.

Love Woodley. One of my favorite memories is him rumbling all the way to the endzone in Notre Dame as we whooped that ass. Watching him play with the rest of that 06 defense was a treat.

That's a good way to put it. Watching Woodley in '06 was an absolute treat. He Fucked. Shit. Up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, a few days ago the OP did a poll through this board that allowed MGoblog users to vote on their favorite Michigan athetes. These posts are just the results of that poll (so not based on his opinion).

To the person who mentioned the fumble return for TD against Notre Dame in '06, let me second that emotion!
