Is Minnesota any good? (I know we are a lot bettter either way)

They are very solid.
Ranked #22 nationally. Only other Big Ten that's regularly in the top 25.
Beat us in the 2014 B1G tournament finals.
Minnesota will be a #2 seed in whatever Regional they are in. So they will be as good as the best competition we will face in the first weekend of NCAAs
We're gonna have our hands full.
Not knocking Minnesota, but I'm assuming (whether right or wrong) that anyone in the Big Ten is a tuneup for Michigan before the regional.

Minnesota won the BIG tourney two years ago. Also, they have been a tough opponet for Mich in the regular season the last few years, I would expect a close game tonight.
ace pitcher and power bats..This is going to be a tight game...no cakewalk here..Its not like we ran away with the regular season. we had a one game lead in the loss column and they had one rainout....dont expect a easy game....its a neutral field but it looks like we have a clear crowd advantage..that helps...Just need Romero to wake up and Id start Sarah and see if we can get 3 good innings out of her and if she gets in trouble bring back Betsa...Against Nebraska game 2 she struggled got yanked but put back in later and was LIGHTS OUT...she needs to get MAD!...remember Nikki Nemitz? Jordan Taylor? or Wagner...they get pissed and you could tell and theyd become absolute bulldogs..Thats what Betsa needs
Minnesota is the big ten's 2nd best team. They are ranked around 21 if i remember correctly.
Minnesota is #22 RPI, so probably better than any team that will be sent to our regional, but not as good as our likely super-regional opponent. #22 is a long way from #16, but if Minnesota wins they do have an outside shot at hosting a regional.
Minnesota's numbers aren't that much worse than Michigan's in-conference. Runs scored per game: Michigan 8.5, Minnesota 8.0. Runs allowed per game: Michigan 2.1, Minnesota 2.5.
In other conference tournament action, Valparaiso pulled off several upsets to win the Horizon League tournament despite their 18-32 record; they will almost certainly be the #4 seed in Michigan's regional.
Michigan just beat PSU in the B1G Tournament Semifinals.
Went up 4-0 on a Susalla RBI single, a Blanco 2-run shot and an Aidan Falk homer right after Blanco's.
PSU scored their 1 run on a bases loaded walk. Betsa was pulled after that, which was a blessing in disguise as she's only pitched 6 innings this weekend and is plenty rested.
Michigan would tack on two more runs on RBIs by Monte and Si-Lo to go up 6-1.
Never were in any danger of this becoming a game. PSU only had 3 hits and their loudmouth fans were screaming over essentially nothing as they did nothing offensively.
Michigan is now 46-4 and will face Minnesota in the B1G Tournament Championship.
Michigan has not played Minnesota this year. Minnesota's 3 losses in conference play were a 10-2 walloping from Northwestern and two losses to Wisconsin at home in the same day during a doubleheader. Minnesota's tournament games were a 2-0 win over crappy Illinois and an 8-4 win over Northwestern where neither pitcher played well.
what's wrong with their fans getting loud in support of their team?
Relative softball newb here, can pitchers make both starts in a double header?
Especially during the post-season, it's not uncommon to see a pitcher throw 14 innings in a day. For the most part it isn't done during the regular season, though.
During Michigan's championship run in 2005, Jenny Ritter (now the color announcer for the BTN) pitched 10 innings on Sunday, 12 on Monday, 7 on Tuesday and 10 on Wednesday--that's 39 innings in 4 days.
They can pitch as many innings as they want and they can leave and re-enter the same game as well

There is no good reason that we're the visiting team in this game.

Rom. Bomb.

ROMERO!!!
1-0, 2 batters in.
See ya! Rom-bomb!
We also always have to play a "road" game in the regionals and super regionals despite being the higher seed.

Just HUGE!
RomoRumble!!!!!!!!!!!
NCAA career record for runs scored for Romero - 294 runs.
1 = 1 Michigan
- = 0 Minnesota
so that ROMBOMB is crucial
Holy crap. An inside pitch to a LH hitter that is called a strike.
Hutch has a legit beef there.
That better not be an omen.
they never shut up

Ugh, can't keep giving up free runs. Walks, hit batters, wild pitches.
I've been looking but couldn't find any.
The one thing that can undo this team is mental mistakes. Those pop up a little too often for comfort sometimes.
pitch...First Inning and shes already had a walk, a hit batter, a single and wild pitch the complete opposite of what is needed
Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. And we only gave up 1 run.
1 = 1 Michigan
1 = 1 Minnesota
That's two that I thought Blanco put out of here that just missed.
man after Romo shes my next favorite player...CONSISTENT POWER...
