OT: Bad Case of the Monday's

Submitted by Santa Clause on

Anybody else have a case of the Monday's and a desire to not go to work today? The weekend flew by way to fast for me, and I know this week of work will go by slower than AL Borges on a treadmill.

I landed last night after the worst three day Bender of my life after 18 guys came together to nearly break me at my bachelor party in Portland. Everything in my bed is covered in sweat or noxious fumes. I absolutely guarantee that everyone combined on this thread feels half as good as I do.

You fucked up when you didn't attack today with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. I'm telling you, ever since Jim took over I've never had a bad Monday. Don't even think I've had a bad day. When I wake up I don't think, I just do.

Just this past Friday, I grabbed a nice Sirloin on my way home

I figured I'd get home, toss it on the grill and then rolax into the week at its end

Then thinking what Jim would do, i thought what a waste of time

I grabbed that fucker, dewrapped it and ate  the fucka before I got home

Don't waste time wondering, just do it and then you know it can be done.

I was not going to mention it thinking if it was availabe, you would have already done it, but then I remembered until I went to work for the gov't I had never heard of it, so if it heps one or more I'd be happy.

It's called AWS  - Alternate work schedule and yes, it's only for white collar. Most people here say they hate Mondays and that woud work. It can be used for any day, however, and most pick Monday or Friday, obviously for the extended weekend. Even with it availabe, i still stuck with straight 8 for two years before I switched. I was still partying pretty hard - meaning I liked to drink on the weekends. My days of week night drinking were long past. But instead of Mondays. I opted for Fridays so I could drink Thurs thru Sat. on the long weekend.

Now, of course, this isn't going to work if you'reworkdays consist of working with  unscheduled walk-ins or things of that nature, but I worked in Contracts, so I could just as easily keep up with my contracts at my own pace.

Normal work week was handled in this manner. M-F 9 hrs, total 45. Second week, three 9 hr days and then finished off with an 8 hr on last day of the pay period, leaving Thurs thru Sat off every other week.

Often overlooked was the added benefit of an extra 26 days off, or 5 more weeks vacation per year. Actually, I can't recall anyone ever trying this, but I don't think it would have been too difficult to work the extra day for 10 weeks and then actually take a vacation in two week chunks. I don't know if this would have been viable for most, but myself and our Leasing Agent could have done it. We were both actual employees of Regional Hdqs and attached to the Grand Rapids Field Office.

I worked all weekend so I don't really have a case of the Mondays...I don't mean that as a negative either. I love my job. I will be excited when I can spend my weekends away though.
