PS4 TV Now Nationwide with BTN
Sony announced today the PS4 TV "Vue" is now available nationwide.
The Core Slim package is $34.99 for 70+ channels and has BTN, ESPN, ESPN2 all the Fox Sports.
Live ABC, NBC, FOX not available yet.
Before, it was only in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami.
Anyone have experience with this?
I want to drop Time Warner...
As attractive as Sling's price point is, I've heard that its performance and reliability has been sub-par. I'd be interested to hear people's personal interactions with it, as well as anyone in the existing markets for PS Vue who have tried it out.
I've really had no problem with sling....every now and then it might cut out for like 5 secs or so. I mean for the 25 a month and no contract I can live with that.
Sling is C R A P. You can't even watch ESPN on there it is all pixelated 1/2 the time. Utter crap...sling is for sub only then use the ESPN app to watch ESPn.
Everything I've read sounds like Sony will not be repeating the mistakes that Dish did with Sling.
i watch espn through sling quite often with no issues on my fire tv. I did try watching sling through my chromecast and it was notably slower and worse quality.
it's pretty good but your internet connection/router is a big factor. we were using it at our old place and it seemed to freeze quite a bit. we moved a few weeks ago and have a different ISP and have a new router and it works very well. Switching channels is quick and it rarely freezes. we keep it on almost all day too - very happy with it so far (we're using it on a fire tv, fwiw). I believe they also do a 7 day trial, so i'd recommend giving it a shot and see how it works on your set up.
50 mbps download speed
Concerns: (Thx, I'll hang up and listen)
What kind of WifI speed would be reccommended?
What are the DVR capabilites of PS VUE?
Any experience with the Digital HD antennae?
The site indicated 10M speed, but seems light to me. Apparently you can record shows a save for 28 days.
You really want to run a cat5 ethernet cable from your router to your streaming device. Wifi just does not have the bandwidth that a direct cable does & it basically eliminates any buffering.
A good router can fix those issues. Recently cut the cord and was having some issues initially. Bumped the router up to an ASUS 3100 and now get much more reliable 802.11ac coverage and speeds throughout the house.
Moho Leaf + Tablo = Broadcast TV streaming with DVR.
Sling = AMC + ESPN + TNT + TBS
Netflix
$37 a month between those three things gets us abou 90% of what we used to watch on Cable.
If BTN can hit Sling by September, I'm in good shape. Otherwise, I'll get some kind of super basic cable package that gets me BTN and BTN2Go for a few months.

Does it run better on a PS4 than it would on a PS3? Or is it more dependent on your internet speeds and modem etc???
