Harbaugh tweet directed at Butch Jones

Submitted by Candor for Sale on

Harbaugh is out here slaying everyone.

Suggestion to my Rocky Top colleague, rather than lunch in Florida you might spend your time and focus attending to your present team.

I can get behind this. The hype train will create so much interest in watching this football team. Wormley just said he believes this team has what it takes to win a natty. Let's do it! Go Blue!

Sometimes less is more. I'm a founding member of the JH fan club but I sort of wish he would pick and choose this stuff a bit more. Those twitter posts by rival coaches were sort of snark tongue in cheek. Rather see him ignore them that can be more powerful than underlining the fail that is TN.

Kind of thinking the same thing, but someone else in the thread fixed my thinking on it. Makes sense that the recent stuff in Knoxville is really an affront to Harbaugh's sense of decency and he perceives it as a threat to the integrity of the game. I have no problem with him launching a nuclear first strike on Twitter when it comes to matters of principle--especially in the case of what's alleged at Tennessee.

I don't know man. It's pretty obvious that our coach has brass balls, but my fear is that if we should lose a ball game (I'm not saying it will happen) we will NEVER hear the end of it. Ever. Nice burn though.

Not to be forgotten here is that Tennessee recently offered 20 kids from IMG.   Maybe some of those kids told Jim that Butch was talkng shit about Jim or Michigan?

thought for sure he was going to come in and say something just to stir things up a bit with OSU and MSU as I had read numerous times that's what he had done at Stanford early on by going after USC and Pete Carroll.

None of that happened though last off-season (unless you count Mike Weber tweet) or even during this past regular season. If anything I actually thought he was overly friendly to those two programs.

Right when I became convinced this wasn't going to be his style at Michigan........... all hell has broken loose. Now a lot of that may or may not been planned or even his fault either, who cares.

The best thing about it is were barely into the month of March and he's pretty much declared war now on half of major college football. Have to admit this makes the offseason so much more fun.

I'm wondering if its more than just the tweet? MAybe some negative recruiting? I'm thinking Harbaugh wasn't a fan of Butch Jones before the tweet and maybe even before the recent scandal.

I don't know...this might not be a popular stance but I'm not a huge fan of this one (not that Harbaugh cares or anything). I didn't really think the lunch tweets were negative towards UM so it just kind of comes across as an overreaction on Harbaugh's part.

Things comes off as petty. Smart took a shot at the whole trip to FL by insinuating some shady stuff was going on...I have no problem with Harbaugh firing back at that. But lunch tweets seemed pretty innocent to me and to call out Butch who was just piggy backing off of Bielma and MD just seems like going after low hanging fruit.

Doesn't really change my opinion of Harbaugh, I'm extactic he's the coach and applaud 99% of the things he is doing to push the envelope. Just didn't care much for this particular response...but like I said, Harbaugh don't care (nor should he).

Why not? These blowhards have been getting away with blatant violations and enjoying the resulting competitive advantage for years, and the NCAA looks the other way. Even more disappointing is ADs and coaches of clean programs haven't said shit about it publicly. I think it's great that Jim Hackett said something about it and Harbaugh isn't mincing words either. The only way the NCAA will be pressed into action is by influential and respected people in the game become vocal about it.

JH doesn't take any bullshit ...& is a badass. Their always is a method to his madness imo. JH wants a tough unified team... & creating a little controversy will piss off & motivate the players once they hear the other teams yapping.

This isn't a timid & scared coached M - like we have seen with some of the previous. This is a little Bo, a little Ditka...& a whole fuckload of Harbaugh.

Wait until teams see a pissed of Gary lined up! Whoa fuckin Nelly!

is going to be assassinated. I'm only kind of kidding, btw. They don't take kindly to his types down there and some hillbilly will try to snipe him out. Already a few threats out there after this.
