OT: Jimbo Fisher bans players from going to bars
In an attempt to put out the dumpster fire that is the FSU program, Jimbo has prohibited all members of the football team from going to bars.

I could completely understand banning all players under 21, but that seems unfair to stop the legal age students. Good for Fisher for trying to change the culture, but he still looks like a joke. Instead of admitting that he needs to recruit higher integrity players, he comes up with this. None of Winston's antics involved bars...
EDIT: Winston's alleged rape saga started out at a bar. Jimbo must be right...it's all the bar's fault. No accountability needed to be had by him
is a song lyric?
Great points. Personally, I like the idea of a group consequence as a way to encourage team leaders and others to step up. Also, as a way to temporarily give some guys "permission" to not go to bars who might need the excuse of an authority figure telling them not to. But, as you said, in isolation the ban won't change any underlining problems.
Dear Jimbo: Great call. This ballsy move not only earns the respect of your upper classmen and team leaders but will help with recruiting and and overall relations with the university and law enforcement. Brilliant.
Bars don't assault women...drunk FSU football players do. I think Jimbo has an issue with surveillance cameras. It's not like this crap doesn't happen at the frat houses or random house parties on campus either.
Just make Florida State an all-girls school again and fix the problem for good.
Silly rule...college kids are going to party..bars, rooms, park some where. Many/most are going to drink too. Banning them from bars just means the scene will move elsewhere..that's it. And those that are likely to get into fights will just do it elsewhere too. They may even be MORE likely to pull these stunts in these other enviroments because they will be less heavily monitored (no bouncers, fewer witnesses, etc.).
Plus, if I'm of age and was told I couldn't go to a bar I'd be pissed. I'd never assault anyone so why am I being punished? What if I want to go to a bar with a family member?
This is how dry counties get started.

at Rick's or Dooley's when the O-Line would come in on Thursday nights, pick up a case of Jack, toss a 1/2 barrel on a shoulder, then go back to an apartment to party hard before the Friday night lockdown at the Campus Inn. Technically they weren't at the bar for long, but they looked pretty comfortable and confident in that setting.
So punching people remains a problem across all of football—in this case NFL assistant coaches:

Yeah, I think the bar thing is besides the point (though not a bad rule per say). Focusing on assult seems to get to the core of the issue.

He probably just want to keep the guys out the bars that the soon to be former Mrs. Jimbo hangs out in...
