OT: Which two Michigan basketball teams would you draft vs. yourself
Pick from the current roster; that means D. Robinson, but no Jaylen Brown, please. Team 1 gets first pick, Team 2 gets next two picks, and then back and forth from there until the current roster is depleted. I'll edit this thread with my picks if enough people play and after I do my draft picks.
Player Pool:
C. Levert, Z. Irvin, D. Walton, S. Albrecht, R. Doyle, M. Donnal, A. Dawkins, M. Abdur-Rahkman, K. Chatman, D.J. Wilson, D. Robinson, A. Dakich, S. Lonergan, M. Wagner,
Team 1 (MAIZE):
Doyle, Walton, Dawkins, Robinson, Chatman, Wagner, Dakich
Team 2 (BLUE):
Levert, Irvin, Albrecht, Abdur-Rahkman, Donnal, Wilson, Lonergan
[edit: IMO, Maize team wins 5-7 times out of every 10 games played, because it's more well-rounded with proven quality at the 1 position and 5 position]
My #1 pick goes to Zak Irvin.
Caris LeVert
Spike Albrecht
Ricky Doyle
Kam Chatman
Duncan Robinson
Sean Lonergan
Blue:
Aubrey Dawkins
Zak Irvin
Derrick Walton
Mo Abdur-Rahkman
Mark Donnal
D.J. Wilson
Andrew Dakich

is Aubrey Dawkins a top 3 pick for you then?
Also, who wins between your teams?
No the order of my post is off. My top 3 picks were Caris, Zak, and Derrick.
Round 1:
M: LeVert
B: Irvin
2:
B: Walton
M: Spike
3:
M: Dawkins
B: Doyle
4:
B: Robinson
M: Chatman
5:
M: Wilson
B: MAAR
6:
B: Donnal
M: Dakich
7:
M: Lonergan
Team Maize:
LeVert, Spike, Dawkins, Chatman, Wilson, Bench Mob
Team Blue:
Irvin, Walton, Doyle, Robinson, MAAR, Donnal
Pretty balanced, except we really need more bigs. Team Blue would be stronger inside.
anyway, who wins between your teams?
A case could be made that Doyle should be the first pick. At PG Walton is obviously better, but Spike isn't a huge dropoff. At the wing levert and irvin are superior, but dawkins isn't a bad option. And none of the 4 position options has really stood out above the others. Doyle is the only proven big, and therefore might be the #1 pick.
Team 1 (in order of pick)
Doyle, Walton, Dawkins, Chatman, MAAR, Wagner
Team 2 (in order of pick)
Levert, Irvin, Albrecht, Wilson, Donnal, Robinson
briefly or not. Thanks.
[edit: I think we have the same first 5-6 picks. interesting. will digest more.]
I'll watch you guys do it.
2. LeVert
3. Walton
4. Dawkins
5. Albrecht
6. MAAR
7. Doyle
8. Chatman
9. Robinson
10. Wagner
11. Wilson
12. Donnal
13. Dakich
14. Lonnergan
The 8-12 spots it's pretty sticky because we haven't seen these guys play much.
Why Irvin ahead of Caris?
I'm pretty sure anyone of them would beat me, even one-on-one.
Here's my draft order and subsequent starting lineups:
Irvin, LeVert, Walton, Albrecht, Doyle, Dawkins, MAAR, Donnal, Wilson, Wagner, Chatman, Robinson, Lonergan, Dakich
Maize Blue
PG Walton Albrecht
SG MAAR LeVert
SF Irvin Dawkins
PF Wilson Wagner
C Doyle Donnal
B1 Chatman Robinson
B2 Longergan Dakich
I'm going with Team Maize out of that. Seems pretty clear why.
Draft Order and Lineups:
Irvin, LeVert, Spike, Walton, Doyle, Dawkins, Robinson, Wagner, MAAR, Donnal, Wilson, Chatman, Lonergan, Dakich
Maize Blue
PG Walton Spike
SG Dawkins Robinson
SF Irvin LeVert
PF Donnal Wilson
C Wagner Doyle
B1 Chatman MAAR
B2 Dakich Lonergan
I think team Blue would win. I like (just a) shooter starting over MAAR to spread the floor, giving Caris and Doyle space to work the PnR (crossing fingers they get better at this).
Team Maize is very strong offensively though. It would be a heck of a game.
I was terrified when I saw the post title.
TWO Michigan teams? Vs little old me?
Was expecting to have to play ACNUMBER1 vs 1976 AND 1989 teams.
Or a team with Wade/Rellford/Tarpley (ouch!) AND a team with Webber/Howard.
I guess I would go another direction and look for smaller, weaker, less terrifying opponents...but it would be sad researching that info.
