New Michigan Quarterback - Ramsey Romano
Michigan baseball infielder Ramsey Romano is now on Michigan's spring football roster as a quarterback ... that's 8 QBs in camp

I thought that baseball is one of those equivalency sports where full scholarships are rare, because the number of scholarships allotted to a team is fewer than 12, so most of the aid is spread among many players, with no one player receiving a full scholarship.
I’m guessing, but I suspect that if Ramsey Romano were not getting very much athletic scholarship aid, then his family has found ways to augment whatever financial aid they get, so that he can be enrolled at Michigan.
Let’s say that (a) his baseball injury were serious enough, so that he’s not been expected to play baseball this season, and (b) he’s not getting any athletic scholarship money this semester. Couldn’t he be working out with the football team without having to be considered a football scholarship player? If so, then would he be any different from Brian Cleary who, for all we know, may be receiving academic scholarship money while completing his studies in biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience? And wouldn’t that avoid any compliance problems?
Maybe Ed Kengerski will interview Ramsey Romano and Brian Cleary to get the details.

I will say that I could get used to having nice problems like this on the roster, such as being potentially exceptionally deep at a position such as QB. Actually, that might be one of the nicest problems to have if it works out that way. This also reinforces the idea that competition is invited and expected - it will be interesting to see who actually begins to separate themselves at some point and if it is among the names people throw out typically.
That nobody on the roster now has stood out or set themselves apart, if one of the Quarterbacks on the roster now was playing well enough for Harbaugh to have enough confidence in to go to war with, then he probably wouldn't be beating the bushes for a QB.
So I don't really know if it's a "nice" problem to have or not. A nice problem to have would be to have a stud QB poised to lead the team to a great season, and have a large group of backups competing to be the backup/heirapparent.
Romano seems to actually be good enough to compete here. He actually does appear to fit the Harbaugh mold as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see him crack the depth chart if he sticks around football.
The VW Bus prospect is a Toronto Blue Jays pitcher. Blew my first post!
Just heard Rudock is transferring to the Wolverines! http://bit.ly/FanthemRudock
I don't know what level of competition he faced, but some of the throws he made required him to let the ball go before the receiver had made his cut. That ability is not common in high school quarterbacks. Even college quarterbacks can struggle with it- I thought Gardner did at times for example.
After watching this, I would not be surprised to see him challenge for the spot. He played just one year in high school, and now he is going to be coached by arguably the best QB coach in the world? That combination makes for a fast learning curve. Some of the reads he made in that highlight film were fantastic. It also looks like he has pretty good arm strength. Maybe he has great intangibles and can win the job? I am utterly shocked that he was not more heavily recruited.

It's getting a bit ridiculous. I have to imagine there will be some transfers after spring ball or something. Or maybe the team will just roll with 8/9 QBs and see what happens.

“Ramsey is such a natural athlete,” Valhalla football coach Charles Bussey said. “Even though he hadn’t picked up a football since last season, he was still able to sling it down field. He’s going to play baseball in college and I’m happy for him but he could easily have played football if he wanted to.”
Gee, I wonder if Bob Ufer would have approved of the name of his High School?

UT is Union-Tribune in San Diego.
Also, El Cajon is in the San Diego area, Harbaugh'ss old coaching and recruiting stomping grounds:
is he giving up baseball for football or playing both?

+1 to your analysis (except Elway had a legendary arm)
not good arm strength for Romano
still seems to be enough there to raise an eyebrow or two for a baseball guy with no expectations of even playing football
ever seen a 6'3" shortstop. He must be one heck of an athlete. I say bring it on.
