2006 was the last time they went the entire season ranked in Football.
They were preseason #14 in 2006. Here is their poll progression that season.
Michigan's rank is the number on the front end of the /
They've done that quite a bit. Unless you meant the whole year in the top-10?

He said Unranked
November 17th, 2014 at 6:06 PM ^
I think OP means unranked beginning-to-end?
Ed: Guess we got the point across

Wow. That was probably the biggest fail ever by me.
2008 was the least time where they were NOT ranked at any time during the season.

I believe Michigan was #25 preseason in the Coaches Poll.

Yep, pretty certain we were ranked for the Utah game. I remember Richrod saying something - in reaction to being ranked - about how it must be the name that's garnering the respect or something.
How right he was
(Edit: We were #24 in the coaches poll to start the season)

They were ranked in the preseason polls. 9 returning starters on defense (I believe) + being Michigan was pretty much all that was rooted in.

Ah, OK, I thought we just meant in any poll, but I wasn't sure if it was both or just one in 2008.
November 17th, 2014 at 6:07 PM ^
They were preseason #18 in the coaches poll in 2008.
I've always disregarded the coaches poll. In many sports. There are so many problems with them.
They were unranked in the coaches poll for preseason 2006.

The last time Michigan wasn't ranked at all in either poll was the 1967 season.
2014 will be next in line.

Disagree... Michigan has been pretty rank all season.

It's a bloody shame that Pollstalker is no longer around as that was a great site with some great history - week-to-week even - on this very thing. Does anyone know if there is a decent facsimile of this site in existence? It probably would have the precise answer to this question in its pages.

I don't really care where Michigan is ranked before a season starts. What matters is where it is at the end of the season.
