Canteen Running With The Ones
Canteen is practicing with the starters on the inside and the outside, mainly reps with Devin Gardner.

Freddy Canteen believes he's the fastest player on the team, believes he'll be a real playmaker this season right away

Canteen says he 'always' felt he'd be able to compete at this level. Very confident kid.

It looks like Canteen has a real shot to run with the ones this fall. Especially after reading this news:
Drake Harris says he's probably going to sit out the rest of spring with his hamstring injury

I knew MGoBlog was hyppee on Canteen... Called it like a year ago.
I recall a bunch of people wondering why we wasted a spot on a lower rated receiver when there were higher rated guys still in play.
I'm Ron Burgundy?
I believe he moved up to a 4* after committing to Michigan on a couple sites. ESPN had not even rated him yet and eventually gave him 3 stars.
HIMYM sitcom replacement- Check.
Yes- Canteen looked great but so did Funchess, York, Chesson, Dukes, Norfleet, and even Wangler who seems to have great hands. Jake Butt is likely to be back early in the season but AJ Williams, Khaleed Hill looked pretty good as well catching the ball. Shallman, Kerridge and Houma all looked good running routes and had some nice catches in practice as well. All the backs seemed pretty effective catching pases out of the backfield although Green was not as sure handed as Hayes. Even Capatina (walk on?) who holds for place kicking got some reps at slot and made some nice catches in traffic. I think receiver is very strong and Harris just adds to this list. The reciever corps may be the strongest and deepest area of our roster right now on offense. Nice to have great QB's throwing to them also.
Freddy is the guy that defenses hate. It's 3rd and 8 and he will just find the opening in the defense and get open to move the chains. I really believe his footwork makes him unguardable against man coverage and he's going to eat zone coverage alive too. would love a 2 X 2 shotgun split with Freddy and D. Funch as the inside guys. Keep grinding Freddy!!!

Comments like this are where the over-the-top hype gets started. Somebody comes here from another board, sees your comment, and repeats it verbatim, or more likely embellishes it further.
I'm not sure whether it's a good thing that Canteen is running with the ones, or a bad thing. If it's true, I'm not sure if that says more about how good Canteen is playing, or if it says something about our current WR's. I'm going to look at this as the glass is half full, rather than the glass is cracked and we are F'd.
One of the parents of a recruit was there today and saw Canteen first hand. He was amazed at the catches Freddy was bringing in and just how good Freddy looked overall. Take that for what it is worth.
Let's hope Canteen has more skills than a waterboy...
...or Canteen boy. Interestingly, both are played by Adam Sandler.
without the latest hype candidate. Should he only live up to half the hype it would be a great thing.
but 6-7 straight years of general disappointment in Michigan Football has made me a complete cynic when it comes to offseason chatter. I'm to the point where I hear
"Michigan working on toughn-"
"BAH!...Just win on the field. I dont care anymore"
it does not shock me he's running w/the ones. Afterall, he went to a school majoring in fb, and if they weren't damn good at fundamentals, that would be shocking. However, without his foot speed, he would not be there, so we should be optimistic about that. Now on to Negative Nancy. You are correct as well. BH inherited a qb that Borges couldn't fuck up because to run another offense would have been sacrosant. But you are correct in pointin out he's amassed a shit-ton of talent, on both sides of the ball. Now's the t!!! to 'GET ER DONE" as that once comic likes to say. But the equal 1/2 sides of my optimism and questioning persona says this is also the year that Brady has always proven he's the best in whichever conference he's coached in, so i'm expecting like results. If this does not pan out, it would mean, to me anyway, he's reached his level of excellence and I would just hate for that to be true. Go Brady, Go Blue!!!!!!
So... you were diappointed with an 11-win season and a BCS Bowl?
3..2...1. and now let's hear from 10 more posters who want to make sure everyone knows they no longer care about hype or tidbits of info until they see it in the field. It's gonna be a long 150 days.
Told you. While everyone was drooling over Harris, it was clear to me who the next star recieve would be. People need to stop looking at rankings and actually watch these kids videos.
Ill say it again - he is going to be a star.
I thought from the day they committed that Canteen and Watson were steals. I didn't know if one or both would be starting from day one but I liked the pick ups.
Also, irrational or not, I have concerns with Harris's health. It seems they are being ultra conservative with him or they may be more to it. Either way, is concerning.
Ok we get it! Every year the players fail to live up to the offseason hype and you want to see it on the field. Well, how about you skip the offseason hype threads and reserve comment until its time for them to get on the field?
While we're at it, you hate coachspeak? Stop reading the pressers. Hookers make you uncomfortable? Stay out of East Lansing. It could all be so simple.
Awesome news on Canteen. Too bad on Harris. He's missing a toof football for a hamstring injury. Would like to be able to redshirt more guys, can't keep playing so many freshman, it hurts you in the long run. Need to have a team with a bunch of 5th year guys to compete for the crown.
