Michigan Vs. Wofford Open Thread
Michigan Kicks off the 2014 NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament with Wofford. The game is on CBS.
GO BLUE!
turnovers are frustrating
That was a bad pass
Apparently very focused on the teachings of Lao Tzu.
What is up with Horford lately. Just some headscratching decisions and plays lately.
And he's not coming back, so.....
...about 6 too many for my tastes
We couldn't be any less careful with our passes than we have been tonight.
8 turnovers, now. Our intensity isn't the best so far but if we can step it up we should roll in the second half.
M is playing quite subpar with all these turnovers and is still up 11. They are playing pretty good defense, though.
If not for Staukas and Robinson it would be an F-.
That is unusual for us
I am seeing zero effort out there. Stop going thru the motions and put this damn team away already! They do not belong out there on the court with you!
We're on pace to win 68-40........
Not sure what game you're watching. They played pretty nice defense and there haven't been that many possessions. Can't ask for a whole lot more.
Edit: Except for the TO's obviously. Some were ridic, like Nik's charge and Cochran should have had a 3rd foul when he bumped Walton off the ball.
Well that was nice of him to foul so obviously.
Boring, up by double digits. Exactly what you want in a 2-15 game when you're the 2-seed
Holy shit I see a much different game that some of you, apparently. I've not comment if all you see are turnovers and missed shots and a theoretical lack of effort.
I understand there are fouls to give. What I don't understand:
If you're Spike there, sell out for the steal. Try to strip that ball away. Worst thing that happens is you get a foul call, which....
I don't think you ever tell a guy as foul prone as Horford to give one away. Anybody else out there, fine, whatever. Horford can't afford to give away freebies since that's more or less his standard defensive play anyway.
They need to step up the intensity, on D specially. If they weren't shooting 64% this would be a much closer game.
Look, no one should be panicking. That doesn't mean it's a dick move to point out we've been sloppy with the ball this half. The D has been fine for the most part. Missed jumpers happen - if I have any complaint there it's maybe that we could stand to penetrate more. But the poor passing? Not much excuse for that, particularly when that's normally an area of strength for this team.
We're up by 25 no problem if you halve those turnover numbers. Again, it's not like we're going to lose regardless. But we've got to clean it up.
Michigan eFG% - 70.45%
Michigan OREB% - 25.00%
Michigan FTR - 18.18%
Michigan TOV% - 25.19%
Michigan PPP - 1.15
Wofford eFG% - 32.14%
Wofford OREB% - 21.05%
Wofford FTR - 7.14%
Wofford TOV% - 14.76%
Wofford PPP - 0.67
I'd like to get Morgan more touches in the paint. This will probably be the last game of his career he will enjoy a size advantage. Might as well exploit it.
"ribbiting"
of games so far, but I'll take a halftime 14-point lead any day when we're only a 14-point favorite.
Yeah, more than just a little sloppy in the first half. Gives the coaches something to harp on . I think we'll see some things cleaned up in half #2.
We'll come out crisper in the 2nd half. Unlike our hockey team, we respond in basketball.
I'd like to see us put up a 2nd half like Wisconsin did earlier today. It's clear that Wofford is laughingly overmatched. Just put them out of their misery and rest the starters for the last 7-10 minutes of the half. A 14 point cushion is way too close for a team like Wofford that has nothing to lose.
We were only up 4 at halftime vs South Dakota State last year. I think that team ended up doing ok
Ok just open up with a little run and dont give em any hope of a 2nd half comeback
