Photo: The original Big Ten Tournament trophy from 1998
Not quite the large, beautiful silver basketball trophy which we're looking to win for a 3rd time.
There aren't many photos out there of it. For years I had been looking for a non-black and white picture that was clipped from online newspapers. Bentley Historical Library's image bank recently uploaded photos.
This was the original trophy from the first Big Ten Tournament in 1998 which we won. The trophy was later confiscated after it was vacated and its whereabouts/fate are unknown to this day. I personally think it was destroyed by the Big Ten office.
Good of the Big Ten to spend upwards of $30 on the OG tournament trophy.
They had to save money to pay for the European advisory firm that came up with the B1G slogan.
They were saving money to eventually woo Rutgers.
Is this a real thing?
That looks like they got it made the day before at the trophy store around the corner.
Well, there is Stadium Trophy in Ypsilanti.....they do good work. Entirely possible that they whipped this up on short notice.
Uh you mean all of them except football?
Even football because the NCAA Division 1 Champion North Dakota State won a real tournament that's 20 teams. Not some fake 4 team "playoff".
They "cannot $eem to determine it for FB$"
FIFY
Count me in for someone that doesn't want to see a playoff. The dropoff from the top four to the top 8 right now is huge. We don't need more games for the same outcome.
And the ones that don’t look like golden vaginas.

So... I'm not the only one that thinks that.
Nah...I have it in my den.
Simpler days
A look back at the tournament MVP trophy
I'm wondering the whereabouts of the participation trophies we were frequently awarded during the Ellerbee and Amaker years...
Has anyone here ever held the Stanley Cup? The things that cup have been through and all the people that have held it. Would be cool to lift above your head

I've held the Gagarin Cup. Close enough?
Good times. Ellerbe’s finest moment. UCLA wouldn’t let it last.
Good God! Is that Travis Conlan’s music?!
...it was the 90s...
I remember that team. Tractor Traylor was breaking glass backboards with his power dunks.
