Nick Saban the next coach of the Packers? ESPN's Ryan Clark thinks so.

Oh snaps! Nick Saban going to be the next coach for the Packers? This story must be true, because it agrees with the general public's preconceived notion that the NFL is a better place to coach football than at a P5 University, and that the college game is merely a stepping stone to... 15-17. Or not. Here's to hoping that karma rears its head, and the negative recruiting tactics against 'Bama commence!

I've seen him coach at MSU.  He's definitely a good coach, but talent paves over quite a bit.  Saban did play tough OOC games some years (Michigan), but for the most part he plays one less conference game and four cupcakes.  Dramatically lowers his odds of having an off game when you prepare for 2/3rds of the games everyone else does.

I actually liked him his final year at MSU and thought he was a dirty carpet bagger when he left.  Dude's scum.

I would love to see this happen partly because college football sucks with Alabama being in the playoffs every year, but mostly so that Saban will get exposed as the overrated coach that he is.

Why would an NFL team hire a coach in his mid 60's who has already failed in the NFL? Not just failed but quit on his team before the end of a season. People might point to Pete Carrol but he actually was pretty good in his first NFL go round and won a division title.

It might work if the NFL changed the rules so that Saban would get 5 or 6 first round draft choices every year which would be similar to his advantage at Alabama.

The NFL is the best league, makes the most money, has the best athletes...I don't think its a narrative, i think its true

now that said, there's a number of college jobs which are great and arguably better for each respective coach... Saban is in a great situation, so it would be shocking for him to leave Alabama for the NFL...Harbaugh has a great personal situation with Michigan

However, the flow of successful college coaches moving up the NFL is long... the list of successful NFL coaches moving down? Consists of....Harbaugh?

That said, unlikely Saban moves from Bama at his age...

Coaching is better circumstantially. In general, the NFL is a better option. I mean there's a reason why Jim's name comes up every time there's a new NFL position open; he's the only guy to go to the NCAA after having high success in the NFL. He's an anamoly.

Saban is in the best spot imaginable and shot his shot in the NFL. He's not going back.

I fully understand what you're trying to say, but I have always maintained that NBA and NFL are better if you were to survey the general population of coaches. Some people like Saban, Coach K, and maybe even Harbaugh now are in better positions in college. But nearly everybody tries to do something in the NFL or NBA

I've been saying this here for over a week. What makes it more likely is that saban hasn't been debunking the rumors- even though it's signing day. And he always has before when they came up (also he looked at another job a few years ago, but his wife didn't want to move... Now she feels different).
