Interesting choices...
Kate Mara as Sue Storm
Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm
Jamie Bell as The Thing
Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic
Any thoughts?

Kate Mara's probably the most "famous" of the bunch. Michael B. Jordan's claim to fame is that he played a character on The Wire and made headlines when Andrew Garfield suggested Spider-Man should be gay and Michael B. Jordan should play his boyfriend, "M.J."
As for the other two cast choices, yeah I have no clue either.

What is the point in this movie? What is the rule of thumb, now, 5 years before a remake? 3?

Way back when, Marvel went bankrupt, and had to sell their most popular properties (X-Men, Spiderman, Daredevil, Fantastic 4, etc) to companies like Sony and Fox. In order to keep those properties, Those studios must make a film every so often, otherwise those rights revert back to Marvel. For instance, Daredevil's rights just returned to Marvel because Fox hadn't produced one since 2003
That's why we've seen Wolverine eleventy-billion times on the big screen,as well as several Spiderman films. Fantastic 4 was beginning to approach the deadline, so they're re-booting in with hopes it will spawn a productive trilogy. These studios know that even if they churn out crap movies, they'll still make solid profits off them.
The properties going back to Marvel would be the best scenario, but that's never going to happen.

Stringer: "Well the kids I told to go kill him reported that he set himself on fire and flew away when they pulled a gun on him."
D: "....Oh....Ok then....nevermind."

You've got to be kidding. Michael B. Jordan's claim to fame is that he's been amazing in everything he's done.

Vince Howard was unbelievable for East Dillon. I'm still upset Michigan couldn't pry him out of Texas.

I know Hollywood likes to take a little artistic license, but...I can't imagine the comic book purists are going to look favorably on this one.
February 20th, 2014 at 9:39 AM ^
Everybody seems pretty cool with it. My comic book junkie friend wrote "Diggin these choices!" as his facebook status. I guess I'm old -- I don't even know who two of the actors are.

When was the last time a comic book movie made sense?
February 20th, 2014 at 9:43 AM ^
Its just interesting choices. They'll obviously have to add another wrinkle to the story/characters background to explain it. OR basically indicate that they're not related at all, thus changing things.
Again, just a curiosity on how they'll present it in the new movie.

It's what happens when disney makes comic book movies. Kind of scarey to think what the new star wars cast members will be like.

The first two movies were so, so, so offensively bad.
But...Sue Storm and Johnny Storm are full siblings...right?
February 20th, 2014 at 9:22 AM ^
Yep. They sure are.
...according to the comics, anyway.
February 20th, 2014 at 10:08 AM ^
You're assuming the writers actually read the comic books???
February 20th, 2014 at 10:14 AM ^
unless they were comic book fans growing up.
When January Jones was cast as Emma Frost in First Class, she said she had never read a comic book in her life. After the movie was released, she said she still hadn't.
February 20th, 2014 at 9:20 AM ^
Didn't the last one come out a few years ago? Do we really need another remake? Hollywood is really lazy.
February 20th, 2014 at 9:23 AM ^
with Spiderman. And Superman. And don't get me started on Batman.
February 20th, 2014 at 9:57 AM ^
Agreed. You should have to wait a minimum of 10-15 years before you can "reboot" a franchise. Just because you effed it up the 1st time around doesn't mean you get to call shenanigans and start over.
February 20th, 2014 at 10:52 AM ^
The old human torch is Captain america
The green latern is Deadpool
They are even lazy in casting

Waaaaay too many comic movies lately. I love comics, but everytime one comes out I cringe a bit. It's never like I would do it.
FYI - pick up Thor: God of Thunder "God Butcher" TPB - it's fantastic. Also if you are really late to the party the Batman New 52 first two volumes on TPB (Court of Owls and the other one) are some of the best shit I've read in a while. Hawkeye is great too.
Never was a big F4 guy myself so I can't comment on the choices.
February 20th, 2014 at 9:41 AM ^
Way too many bad movies might be a more apt commentary. Comics, lame comedies, lame action flicks. TV, primarily HBO, Showtime, basic cable, but even networks, are now putting out a more consistent, high-quality product. 20, even 10 years you wouldn't have seen major movie stars going to TV like they are now. Today they don't think twice about it.
There are of course still great movies, just very few that get a lot of attention.

Netflix is great but they don't produce content. But yeah it's awesome, especially for binge viewing.
February 20th, 2014 at 10:20 AM ^
Except for Orange is the New Black, the new season of Arrested Development, and House of Cards which are all wildly popular, so yeay, they do produce new content.
