Will UM get fair officiating in Columbus this Saturday?

Or will Delaney do everything in his power to help OSU and Urban out like in 2016.

I don't recall anything particularly egregious from this year's version of MSU, other than the phantom unsportsmanlike on Higdon (but I'd prefer that to letting things get out of hand like O'Neil did). For once the conference's best interests align with Michigan, so I don't expect anything worse than standard home cooking advantage. But BPONE, and all that.

No. Name one big game with everything at stake that Michigan got a break in officiating. I can’t. They will have to play well enough to overcome it - thankfully they have the team this year to do just that.

So . . . here's how it works.  There is no actual referee conspiracy against Michigan and for Ohio State, even though it often looks that way.

But there is something else at play . . .

Referees serve at the pleasure of the Big Ten office.  It's a tenuous existence, nothing is assured.  Refs want to stay on the good side of the Big Ten office.

Now if a call is blatantly obvious, the ref is going to make the call.  Period.

But if it is a 50/50 judgement call (like 4th an inches) that could go either way, no ref wants to risk his position by making a call that knocks the Big Ten's best chance for the CFP out of contention.  That team with the best chance has typically been Ohio State.

This year however, we're the Big Ten's best chance for the CFP.

I don't expect any gifts, but if there is a marginal judgement call, I don't expect it to go against us the way we have been used to when we play Ohio State.  The coin will flip in our favor this game.

If Delaney doesn’t want the B1G shutout of the playoff they will get a clean game from the refs. Hell he might pick refs from AA to secure Michigan’s place in the CFP

This is definitely my biggest concern. Not worried about injuries. Not worried about slow starts. Mostly just anxious about how the officials call this game. Michigan’s secondary is very active and physical. In the ND game, the officials called PI and targeting early on against Michigan and it seemed to cause hesitation in the secondary...which may has cost the game. If the officials mostly let both teams play, I think the “body blows” will eventually wear osu down.
