This is the first memorable trade deadline in the NFL that I can recall...
Recent/Before Deadline trades:

Carlos Hyde > Jaguars
Amari Cooper > Dallas
Eli Apple > Saints
Snacks Harrison > Lions
Trades today:
Demaryius Thomas > Texans
Golden Tate > Eagles
Ty Montgomery > Ravens

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix > Redskins

The Rams are definitely in "Superbowl or Bust" mode. They have the best roster in the league and probably the worst long term salary cap outlook.

Not really. Most of the big contracts will come off the book after this season. They will have 35 million of cap space next year so I don't see the worst long term salary outlook

Tate is a great player and great leader. He will be missed. There is no sure thing he would be back next year however. Time will tell on this one.

So Red Wings, Lions and Tigers are all tanking.
Thank God for University of Michigan sports!

Kinda funny..a week ago people said they're going to win the division and got congratulated for all their smart moves, including trading for an aging star defensive lineman. They lose one game and suddenly it's clearly time for a rebuild and it's a good move to trade away one of your few good offensive weapons. It's the NFL, one game in week 8 or whatever it was shouldn't make or break your plans for the entire next few years. Odd decisions by Lions management, but of course that's in a way kinda normal as well.

They got good value with both trades. A 5th for a guy with 2.5 years left, and they got a 3rd for a guy with half a season left.
A 3rd round pick is quite a bit better than a 5th. You probably couldn't trade four 5th rounders for a 3rd. I guess maybe you could, I dunno.
Note too that Harrison is younger than Tate.

Unless he planned on leaving this year anyways, this is not an even trade. He's our best receiver, and the best YAC player in the entire NFL.

Yes, he was leaving and yes, this is not an even trade. The Lions got a Top 100 pick in this year's draft for a player who is going to play 8-10 games for the Eagles. The Lions won this trade.

Have always hated Notre Shame, and everyone and everything that comes from it. Except Tate. Dude has always been a baller. Later Tater and good luck. Maybe they can trade Riddick for a couple kicking tees.
