Spencer Hall explains why James Franklin is the most overrated coach in CFB
This is just beautiful -- Spencer diagrams the last play of the PSU-OSU game, and his take on Franklin's performance is brutal:
That all said: Good lord, this is an absolute disaster. This is a disaster worthy of a Bosch painting. There are demons dancing with pitchforks around sinners with flowers growing out of their ears here. There are hellscapes, reader. Just look at the offensive line and tell us they were told where to go, and fully understood their assignments. Look at them and tell us this, you would be telling us only the most grandiose of lies. And they took two timeouts to get this! Not one, but two. This isn’t what happens when Penn State decided to take to the sideline to get things right once. This is what happened when they had two full timeouts to look at the Ohio State defense, really think about their best option, and then come back and put that on the field.

Agreed...Bama has become absurd. They are NFL lite. Even OSU with Meyer is two notches below what Saban has built.
USC had a similar run under Carrol (recruiting /dominance)...but was over a much shorter period of time. FSU was great, as you say, but they also played in shitty ACC, and had to win a few games a year.
Saban ran Meyer out of Gainesville and that program hasn't looked back since. We can talk about bagmen, not playing school, etc - but whatever the excuse, it's still amazing that Bama's program and Saban have not gotten lazy, entitled, or content and seemingly keep distancing themselves from the field. Guy might be evil, but he's driven.

I also agree. Saban's has built a damn juggernaut. Once you've reached elite level, the 5 stars flock to your door.
(I would be remiss to not mention quickly followed by the bag men and the little fellow keeping track of the amount of players they oversigned.)

My new favorite Franklin moment was his closing line of his cringey press conference after the OSU loss. After the long rant, he adamantly proclaimed that PSU was "done being great." Obviously not the context he meant but was funny to hear those words come out of his mouth so passionately.

Cool, so it shouldn't be too difficult for us to beat them then.

That play call redefines "head scratcher". But the thing that really stood out to me was Haskins looking just OK. I think Patterson is better. He's not a threat to run which is a huge benefit for Michigan.

I agree, if you can get pressure on him he's pretty ordinary, but he can run. He did it to us last year.
We'll see who's better on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, until then Shea has time to hone his craft.
