ND UM Playoff Rematch

Submitted by Catchafire on

If ND wins out and Michigan wins out, there is a strong chance we both go to the playoffs for a rematch.  Stranger things have happened.

Bring on Western Michigan!

Did you watch the game?  In what world do you think we are a playoff contender?  Can you imagine our o-line going up against Clemson, Bama, etc?  I guess OSU will be a good gauge, but if we still only have one loss going into that game I would be in awe.

Setting aside that both teams looked like 8-4 squads trying to eke out a ninth win, both have brutal schedules. But on a gut level I would love to play ND again.

9-3, W- Wis, MSU. L- PSU, OSU.

At-Large Rose bowl bid from head to head win over Wis. who loses to OSU in B1G Champ.

Top 10 recruiting class, future is again bright.

If I'm wrong, I pray it is bc you are correct!

HAIL!

There is zero chance Michigan wins the Big Ten or makes the playoff this season. Michigan will finish 7-5, you can Raback It and BkFinest it.

This season only goes one of two ways:

(1) U of M is a great team that just had a shitty early season game a la OSU in 2014.  Ed Warinner works his magic once again, the O-line gels and becomes world beaters by year-end.  Shea Patterson has a Heisman level season and the interior D-line finally lives up to the hype.  We win 10 of the next 11 (close loss at home to Wisconsin) and beat them in the rematch (B1G Champ game) and make it to the playoff.

Odds: 10%?

(2) The O-line continues to suck assholes throughout the season and Shea successfully runs for his life until he doesn’t (trip to the hospital?).  The interior D-line continues to be weaker than puppy piss and we lose all remaining big games (Wis, MSU, PSU, OSU).  The season ends in mass frustration and everyone is questioning whether we should keep Harbaugh around.

Odds: 35%

I hope for everyone’s sake we pull off a great season.  I have too much emotionally invested in this program to suffer through another bad season.  This is make or break now unfortunately.  I suppose somewhere in between in possible (still 55% there), but it seems to me they are either good or they’re not.  The schedule does not allow for mediocre.  Please be good!!!!

I would say playoffs are in the bottom 10 percentile in the probabilities of the number of wins, meaning we would have to have at least 10 wins and win the east. Or go 11-1 with a close loss to MSU, WI, OSU or PSU. Not impossible but not probable in making the playoffs.

In what world do we beat Sparty? We haven’t won a road game against a ranked team since 2006. The only time we’ve beaten sparty in recent memory is when we were 5x better and still didn’t win very comfortably.
