Football Open Practice - Sunday
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:05 AM ^
Oh my God!! Are we going to actually see the 2018 team play actual football?! Diluted, vanilla football, probably, but still. I was pretty sure we wouldn't get shit until 7pm EST on 9/1.

Oh yea let's see the punters

They could play duck, duck, goose for an hour and I would still eat that shit up.

Devin Bush is never chosen as the goose; too scary.

JH is really turning a corner. First announcing a QB, now this...

Guessing Harbaugh is happy with his team. Breaking the submarine early!

Interesting. The day after the Saturday scrimmage. Game plan in place.

You gonna have the scoop from the scrimmage for us?

Lol, if this doesn't perfectly sum up the collective anticipation at the moment then I don't know what does.

This is more of a family/fan friendly event than a practice. But it will be fun to take kids to the stadium, let them run around on the field along with seeing the players do some light drills.

It doesn't seem like they want people from out of town to come to this. Why have it so late in the day and only an hour long? I'd love to go, but it would be 3 hours of driving for an hour-long practice.

Pretty sure that with a limited off season practice schedule and 6 days before the season opener, they didn't schedule this thinking which demographic of the fan base can they annoy the most.
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
Yeah, I don't think they did it on purpose. Was probably a spur of the moment thing since they are announcing it so late. But if they did want to get as many people as possible to this they would have scheduled it better. I still might go.

The point of this is to get the team some practice playing under the lights in preparation for the night game they will play a week later. Any crowd that comes is welcome, but this is an event for the team, not the fans.

I'll go. I really enjoy walking around the largely empty stadium, scouting sight lines and picking out my ideal season ticket seat. My SO and I have a spring game tradition of walking a full circuit around the halo. Good, clean, simple fun.

Pretty short practice session. I assume there will be some other form of team activity/practice that will fill in the allotted time elsewhere, probably including any stuff they wouldn't want to be publicly visible.
A nice effort at openness, and probably has some sort of intended benefit to the team as well.

Should at least provide info on who may not be available for ND..specifically, and UMbig11 may be able to shed some light on this, I've heard that Christian Turner is in a cast, per his social media. Really was looking forward to him as the #3 RB...Samuals needs to step up, stay healthy

Go Blue!

Looks like we can get our fix a few days earlier than expected! Maybe seeing them practice will tone down my thoughts on the season. Because right now I feel very very good about this team. It's our year!
