Ticket Giveaway for the WMU game
BUMPING SO MORE PEOPLE ARE AWARE - LSA
What: Four 40 yard line tickets to the WMU game on 9/8. I'll give away two pairs of tickets.
Story: These season tickets have been in my family since the 1920s when my grandfather attended Michigan. My Dad - George Martin - also a Michigan alumnus, has attended games since the 1950s. I have gone to games since 1990, but now I live in New York and generally only get out to a single game each year. He is now, unfortunately, living with Alzheimers and can no longer attend games. To celebrate my father and fathers in general, I've decided to donate or gift most of my tickets for the coming years on his behalf. The MGoBlog community will be the recipient of tickets to one of the games each year.
Requirements and Rules:
1) You attend the game with your father OR you are a father and attend with your son or daughter.
2) If you win, you make a donation to NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness, a cause important to my father and our family. Donate whatever you feel comfortable with.
3) Enter by replying on this thread. Deadline is midnight at the end of Friday, August 17th.
4) One entry per person.
5) I'll use a random number generator to pick two winners of two tickets each and announce those winners in the thread at noon on Saturday.
6) Winners will have 24 hours to acknowledge that they see they've won.
I'm not sure the best way to get the tickets to the winners. Please post if you have a good way to do that. Worst case, I'll just post my phone or email and we'll move forward that way.

Very sorry to hear about your father and this is a great idea to try and make something positive out of the situation. Really applaud your outlook!

God bless your father. Wish him and your family the best. I already will be attending this game, but this is a truly awesome gesture !

Would love to go. Haven’t been to a game with my dad in about 15 years when he bought us a mini pack. First game we saw with that pack was the opener between Henne and Roethlesberger. Prior to that we used my grandpa’s season tickets but sadly they have not been renewed. Wish the family still did the tailgates and made a routine of the games.

Would love to be able to take my son to his first michigan game

I would love to take either the old man or my son!
August 16th, 2018 at 10:18 PM ^
Please do not enter me into the drawing. I just wanted to say I love your idea, appreciate your generosity and can relate what you are experiencing. My Dad is experiencing similar health challenges. It’s really tough. You are added to my prayer list. I also wanted to comment to say how special the Michigan tradition is. My Dad and I have been die hard Michigan fans since 1969. We’ve enjoyed so many great moments together. I hope the recipients of your tickets will carry on the tradition.

Amazing gesture, sorry to hear about your dad. Looking forward to donating to a great cause (regardless of getting the tix or not)!

I have no relationship with my father and I don’t have kids. But whenever I go to the big house, I bring someone who has never been! Would love to receive them!

I have been regretting not buying any tickets for the upcoming season to go with my nine year old son. This is our last year in Ann Arbor, so I really want to take him to another game while it's convenient. I would be very happy to make the requested donation. Thanks for posting!

What great way to honor your family history and the memory of going to games with your father. Count me in as hoping to go with my dad

My father unfortunately passed last month. However I would love to win and take my son to a game. Good luck with your father. My grandfather had Alzheimer’s, and I used to wear my old army pickle greens and go see him light up and remember for a day. The disease is terrible. So, good luck and god bless.

This is a fantastic way to honor your father, grandfather, and fathers of Michigan fans all over. I'm sorry you won't be using this tickets, but this is a great next use for them.
For ten years, my father and I lived thousands of miles apart, but always made a point to text each other "Go Blue" at the beginning of each game, and keep in touch during the games. Now, we're both in the Ann Arbor area, and have enjoyed the opportunity to watch games together. We've decided to attend this game whether or not these tickets come to us, but please consider this post my entry.
All the best to you and yours, joegeo.

I’d like to enter. I’d love to take my son. It’s been a few years since I’ve taken my dad. He may have seen his last live game , he watches on tv now.

My daughter is 9, and is finally starting to show interest in Michigan football! This would be awesome.
August 17th, 2018 at 7:04 AM ^
I’m sorry for your situation. I went through it last year
August 17th, 2018 at 7:19 AM ^
This is a cool idea.
I am planning on taking my 5 year old daughter to her first game for WMU. She's incredibly excited and asks me daily to tell her about the Michigan game. I recently told her about my first game (which happened to be with my dad and brother) - the 1995 Pigskin Classic against UVA. Mercury Hayes tiptoed to stay in bounds for a touchdown catch from Scott Dreisbach with no time left on the clock to cap off the largest comeback in Michigan football history. We were on the far side of the field, so couldn't tell if he made it in or not but we're going wild none the less - high fiving complete strangers. I've been hooked since.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine is still doing ok but I feel like I can notice a difference in him (mobility, hearing, clarity of comments, etc.) between now and a few years ago; thus I have been trying to do all of these types of things with him while he can still enjoy it.
So yes, please enter me. Thanks for your generosity!

I have never been to a game with my Dad. Would love to make that happen! Thank you for doing this!!
August 17th, 2018 at 8:59 AM ^
Great idea, my 5 year old would love it!
August 17th, 2018 at 9:12 AM ^
This is so awesome. Too bad for me, since my dad is too old and my son too uninterested. My father in law is the only rabid football fan that would qualify but, he is a Notre Dame fan and I do not watch games with him.
So cool, I hope the winner is well deserved.

Well Done! My 10 year old is dying to go to a game. We’ve looked at tickets are are exploring our options!
Go Big in the Big House!

I'm sorry to hear about your father. I commend you for promoting awareness and getting people to think about donations. I would love to take my son to his first game, but your post has prompted me to donate (albeit small donation) to NAMI regardless of where the tickets go.

Right in the feels, my dad passed away the summer before I was going to take him to our first U of M game. He was such a big fan that he was buried in a U of M polo and his vault was Blue. The funeral director/MSU fan cut out a maize block M to put on top.

As a Spartan fan I commend this beautiful gesture. An excellent tribute to your Dad.

This is an awesome gesture! Thanks for the opportunity. I'd love to take my son to a game at the big house--he's 9 and really started getting excited about Michigan over the past year. This would be his first game and would probably fuel more fandom out of him.
August 17th, 2018 at 12:07 PM ^
It would be an honor to attend the game with my son. Thank you for the opportunity.

My dad may be the biggest Michigan fan I know and I don't think he's seen a game in the Big House yet!
August 17th, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
Just lost my Grandpa to Alzhemier in June. Great cause. Will have to drag the old man out for this!

I live in TN and would 100% take my 12 year old daughter who is a huge fan. Come on RNG!!
August 17th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
Very kind of you. Would love to take my son.
August 17th, 2018 at 12:29 PM ^
My dad and I would LOVE this. He's 65 and has never been to a Michigan game. My father would cherish this above anyone else; mainly, he's a huge fan of college football generally and the Big House has always been on his list of places to visit.
August 17th, 2018 at 12:32 PM ^
I'm an alum living in Tennessee. My youngest son has become a HUGE fan of the Wolverines. I was planning on getting tickets and traveling to Ann Arbor sometime this year as a present for his 10th birthday.
Thank you for looking to do something good with these tickets.

Sorry to hear about your father Joe.
Would love to go to the game with my father as I don't get to see him much since moving away to start my career. I think it's awesome what you're doing and as always, Go Blue.

I would love to take my dad for his first game at the Big House. Great idea, and thanks for the opportunity!

Kinda happy this got bumped, I thought it was just a thread of someone trying to dump tickets, but was confused why it made it's way back to the top of the board so I clicked it. Having read it, I'm super happy that happened. Hope all the best for you and your family. Mental illness is so difficult to deal with. Your generosity is inspiring. Here's to you and your family, a bloodline of Michigan Men

I would love this...the challenge would only be to decide going as a son (with my dad) or a father (with one of my sons). Cool thing you're doing for a great cause, the father/son requirement icing on the cake!!!
August 17th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
Would love to take 1 of my 4 pre-teen boys to the game. Thanks for doing this!!! Pretty cool.
August 17th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
This is very cool of you to do. I would love to attend the game with my father. We don't often get out to games so this would be a treat.
August 17th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
Thank you!
And Go Blue!

My daughter was hoping to make her first trip to the Big House this year, and NAMI is truly a good cause.
August 17th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
I am sorry to hear about your father. Our family is very well aware of the struggles that one goes through with Alzheimers, and will gladly make a donation to NAMI.
I would head over with my son from Chicago.
Your generosity is to be commended joegeo.
