Milton & Patterson at Throw It Deep 3 weeks ago (not substantive)
Co-worker's son saw Milton and Patterson at the Throw It Deep QB camp he was also at about 3 weeks ago. Son said Milton was a stud and making insane throws. He was not as impressed with Patterson but clarified that he still looked good. No other insight.
Most informative post in this thread.
Milton is just a physical freak. His hype is mostly built around the fact that he's a legit 6-5+, 200+ and can throw the ball over that mountain over there. He's still incredibly raw. You absolutely would not want him on the field this year and likely even next year.
By comparison he'd make most look bad in a loose, meaningless throwing session. That said, I'm not nearly as high on Shea as most. Is he the best/most ready guy Harbaugh has had at QB here? Yes. Is he the 1st round pick many assume he'll be next April? I don't think so. Not even close, IMO. I'd even go so far as to predict that he may stay another year despite all word being that he's already decided to be 1&done. He'll possibly stay because he'll very likely need another year before The NFL. His skills don't translate very well at this moment.
That said, he's miles above what we've had the last 2 years. He's a good QB! He just isn't as good as many seem to think, IMO. I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong, btw.
No real evidence about your Shea take, but I suspect your analysis of Milton is spot-on.
A great arm is an important and useful item in the toolbox, but he's got to be able to use it to complete passes in quick time periods. Jamarcus Russell had a great arm, too.
The great thing about shea is that he doesn't need to be a world beater. Slightly above average QB play including the running threat he provides has us probably going 11-1 last year. I remember a lot of missed passes to absolutely wide open receivers that were only 10-15 yards down field.

Hmm . . . seems like I've read this comment before. Yes - the dreaded double post.
Thanks to the new redshirt rule, I really wish we had a couple cupcakes on the schedule. I'd like to see Milton get in a blowout just to throw one bomb. Here's to hoping WMU and SMU are 40 point games in the second half.
You forgot Rutgers...
Not to worry...ND and MSU will be 40-point games at the half.

I think we'd burn his redshirt if he plays after Game #4, but I'll take Dylan throwing bombs up 40 on MSU.

I believe there are new rules starting this season that a player can play up to 4 games total for the whole season and still redshirt.
Thanks for posting. Appreciate it, even unsubstantiated.
Milton has the strongest arm here since...Shane Morris. Let's hope the hype equates to something substantial. I'm still full go on the Shea Patterson bandwagon.
Didn’t you mean strongest arm since Uncle Rico?
Since Paul Bunyan.
Throw it deep sounds like a porn title.

I think it's the conclusion to Double A Gap Blitz.

Safe word is Omaha.
I met a guy on counterstrike the other day who said he's friends with one of the GAs. He said that Milton will start vs Notre Dame, and Patterson will be moving to slot receiver. Peters will move to TE. He then killed me and then Tea bagged me.
Which was worse?

Patterson in the slot.
Joe Milton is The Man with the Golden Gun.
Did he confirm whether or not we should sleep on BM?
Shea said not to, so...
